I believe in the power of beauty to transform lives. Everyone deserves a home where they feel safe, comfortable, beautiful and inspired. I am passionate about creating environments that incorporate vibrant colors and a sophisticated mix of varying styles. It is eclectic design at it's best! My interiors incorporate original art, antiques, vintage finds and rich detail to give a space soul, personality and character that can't be achieved any other way.

I have an eye for spotting distinctive pieces. This coupled with a vision for how to make them work alongside the things you already own and love is my forte. I am not above shopping at discount stores or searching online for deals. I do it all the time! This is not to say my designs are cheap.... far from it. There is no substitute for spending money on art, the right custom made pieces or the well worn antique that fits the space perfectly, much like Cinderella's glass slipper.

I consider my work to be Interior Artistry rather than Interior Design. Each of my compositions is a brave melding together of distinctive furnishings, fabrics and patterns to create a one-of-a-kind symphony of style.

My affinity for design comes naturally. I attribute much of my talent and discriminating taste to my designer father. I grew up surrounded by beauty in all of it's forms. However, I have developed my own unique style that is part glamour, part bohemian, part minimalist and part cottage chic. I often rely on intuition and I don't follow any design "rules". My style is hard to explain in words but, some people have tried. My home has been described as "walking into a storybook". It has also been described as magical and inspiring. Maybe because it evokes a sense of wonder and awe.

I would love the opportunity to "play" with you and discover what magic we can create together in your space. Let's make it functional to fit your lifestyle yet still beautiful, soulful and amazing! You should love where you live and be captivated every time you walk through the door.

i prefer to charge by the project rather than hourly. I find it much more efficient for myself and my clients. I pass on the majority of the discounts I receive from my vendors. This often covers my fee! I save my clients hundreds, if not thousands, in costly mistakes. People often feel hiring a designer is expensive. I disagree. In the long run.... I will save you money, time and aggravation!

> Julie made our project happen in an efficient and easeful manner and brought an intuitive & artful eye to each space. She is easy to work with & respects your taste while bringing fun alternatives that makes it a great collaboration of ideas. Already planning another project with her!!

**★★★★★ — Luke L, June 2019**

> Julie was great. She was able to transform vague ideas and goals into actionable items that far exceeded our expectations. She pushed us to make decisions outside of what we would normally do to great success while still honoring our personal style and taste. Highly recommended.

**★★★★ — Janice Kimball, April 2019**

> Julie is professional and easy to work with. She has lots of contacts, a good eye and is creative. I love the finishing touches that made the place feel like home.

**★★★★★ — Demi McConkie, Sept. 2018**

> I cannot say enough great things about working with Julie.
> My husband and I have a running joke... "what would Julie do?"
> I have a great sense of style and design. I even used to have a design business so we thought we knew what would work best in our kitchen remodel design.
> Julie suggested things we thought would not work. We fought her on them and are so incredibly grateful we went with her suggestions!!!!
> The whole place came together so much better than we could have expected.
> I chose to go out of town and let Julie work her magic with the finishing touches while I was gone. I felt like I was on a reality TV show. I was blown away. She incorporated the things I had and loved, bought new things I would have never thought to buy and put it all together in a way that has me walking around in my dream home.
> Julie has a rare gift to not only do what aesthetically looks beautiful but she knows how to bring warmth, personality and functionality to a space in a way that will blow your mind.
> She was worth every penny!!!!
> Oh, and I also noticed how much she saved me! I stopped purchasing things that didn't really work, she knew where to shop to get the right things.
> She saved me so much time and money in just that!
> Thank you Julie!!!

**★★★★★ — Heathyr, June 2017**

> Julie is a visionary! She can really see the potential in a house and can imagine it in so many different ways. She was easy to work with and professional. She kept my budget in mind when offering ideas and suggestions and she clearly loves designing. I highly recommend Julie for any designing project.

**★★★★★ — Vicki Varela, July 2016**

> Julie does an excellent job of adapting to clients' needs. She custom fits her services to what the client is trying to accomplish. She is resourceful and hard working; also highly energized. She did a kitchen makeover over for me. I am very happy with it. She also did some art walls for me, organizing my large collection of original art into art walls. Amazing the difference it made to improve the impact of the art.

**★★★★★ — Lesley Jones, July 2016**

> Our home looks great thanks to Julie's eye for everything. She is a pleasure to work with and will work with your ideas, quirks and budget to get a put together space that is comfortable, stylish and personal. Her artistic sense makes it all work, from fabrics to furniture style to art work to finishing touches.

**Comment from Julie Assenberg Interior Design, LLC:**

> Thank you Lesley! Come see me at San Francisco Design. We need to catch up.

**★★★★ — carol\_lear64, July 2016**

> Julie has helped me on several projects: a primarily cosmetic "remodel" of most rooms in my house, a significant kitchen update, Christmas decorating for several years and many little changes throughout the house. I have really liked that Julie passed on her discounts to me. She did not try to sell me items just because she received a kick-back from the company. She was quick to understand MY style and preferences. She was very good at incorporating--and even highlighting--items that I had and liked.
> She has a good and dependable repertoire of experts to draw from for services--painters, carpet people, upholstery etc. Usually I liked them, too and they were reasonable and prompt. I highly recommend Julie and have done so often.

**Comment from Julie Assenberg Interior Design, LLC:**

> Thank you Carol. I have SO enjoyed working with you throughout the years and getting to know you. You have been an awesome client!

**★★★★★ — Suzanne Burbidge, April 2016**

> Julie is an electic designer who is capable of creating spaces with combining both the client and her ideas. She is reliable, timely and loves a creative challenge. Choosing colors is her strength. She does nothing boring. I would highly recommend Julie.

**★★★★★ — dangitmom07, April 2016**

> Julie is an amazing designer who helped transform my house into a bright, welcoming, and beautiful home. On a limited budget and in minimal time, she combined the furniture and objects I already owned with antique store, second-hand shop, and HomeGoods finds. The result was amazing. She has such an eye and was able to tie everything together effortlessly. Even small things like changing the orientation of my free-standing kitchen island made a huge difference.
>
> I can't recommend her highly enough.

**★★★★★ — Sue-Perior Staging, March 2016**

> I have been a colleague of Julie for well over one year in many different avenues of design. She has such a phenomenal eye for color, texture, space planning, original art, and all decisions that a designer is asked to assist a client with. She is honest, hard working, and respectful to all. I have learned so much from her and am grateful when asked to participate in any job she has.

**Comment from Julie Assenberg Interior Design, LLC:**

> Thanks Sue! I look forward to working with you again soon,

**★★★★★ — kmurraylech, Oct. 2015**

> Julie is a very talented and knowledgeable professional. I purchased an older home and wanted to make it as contemporary as possible. Julie orchestrated a detailed plan to select, purchase and assemble home furnishings in a timely and well thought out manner. This included interior requirements (purchasing furniture, rugs, light fixtures, paint colors, fabrics, etc.) as well as exterior recommendations. I was very pleased with the end result.

  - Description: This fantastic home had amazing bones! For the most part, we kept the original layout. However, we widened the entry to the kitchen and opened up the kitchen to the dining room, completely updating it for modern living. As well as a new kitchen, the entire house got a facelift.... new doors, new door hardware, new lighting and a fresh coat of paint. We added new hardwood floors in the kitchen to match the original floors in the rest of the home. The powder room with it's jaw dropping wallpaper i…

  - Photos: 17
  - Description: Wow, what a great house! A unique art deco style built in the 1930's. There are only a handful of these homes in all of SLC. I chose paint, furniture, art and rugs for my client. I am so glad she was a fan of color like me. The home doesn't get a ton of natural light so the vivid colors really brightened up the space. I also designed the fireplace and the landscaping.... pavers, water feature, fence, fire pit, etc. I love the color of the front door. It might be my favorite ever! Farm Red from B…

  - Location: Salt Lake City, UT
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: This project was exciting because my client already had a lot of original artwork and unusual items he had collected. One stand out was a lovely antique art deco floor lamp with an intricate iron base and etched figures on the sides of the glass shade. The owner downsized from a large home to a condo. We incorporated things he already owned and added new rugs and key pieces that were needed in order to make the new space work. We added several new stunning pieces of original artwork. In my opini…

  - Location: Salt Lake City, UT

  - Description: What a rewarding project! With the exception of the closets and glass on the shower doors, the space was complete. I was given just 2 weeks to customize the closets, add speakers throughout, move the dining light fixture, repaint all of the ceilings, add shower glass and furnish the entire place including towels, bedding, artwork and accessories. Two weeks later, I had just finished filling the place with fresh orchids and flowers. After cleaning up and packing up my toolbox, I sat down in a cha…

  - Description: Believe it or not, this kitchen was done on a budget! ALL of the cabinets were originally Alder. We saved and reconfigured the lowers and added new white uppers. We saved the appliances and patched the existing tile floor. The island is new as well as the cobalt blue breakfront. My client tells me she loves it just as much as kitchens she has been in where the budget was much higher and no expense was spared.
- [Holladay Fireplace](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/holladay-fireplace-pj-vj~1395288)
  - Location: Holladay, UT
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: This living room was long and skinny! I divided it into 2 separate areas placing a desk under the widow which could also be used for a bar when entertaining. The original fireplace was faced with river rock and had a large wood mantel. Although somewhat charming, the fireplace overwhelmed the entire space and gave the sense you were in a cabin. The ceilings were rather low. The solution: painting everything a bright white and modernizing the fireplace. Floating shelves on either side enhanced th…

  - Description: This project was SO much fun! My clients gave me a budget and a direction and then handed me the reigns. This is actually how I do my best work! I was able to determine what the priorities were and allocate funds accordingly. Much of the furniture was bought at a local consignment stores. With their trust, I was able to buy things when I saw them. In many if these cases... you snooze, you loose! We kept the original kitchen cabinets and countertops but replaced the backsplash ( It was the bigges…

  - Description: This is my adorable bungalow. I moved here right after my divorce. It was all done on a budget. Just about everything in my home is from an estate sale or second hand store.... Isn't it fabulous? I didn't do anything structural or remodel the kitchen or bathroom. I took out some cabinets in the kitchen, tore up the carpet, removed the heavy drapes, repainted the entire house, wallpapered the hallway and added my touch. I love it! It is so cozy and welcoming. It proves that you don't need to spen…

  - Description: My Dad, also a designer, originally worked with the owners of this home back in the 70's... crazy how things have come full circle! The basement got a complete overhaul! We knocked out a wall to expand the long narrow bathroom and add a tub. A bedroom at the base of the stairs became on open area with a bench seat for grandkids to play games and read books. It is so much nicer to walk down the stairs to this charming space rather than directly into a hallway. They entertain people in their home…

  - Description: This was a massive landscaping project. Included in this phase was also a complete overhaul of the deck off the back of the house and the original concrete patio underneath. I was involved from beginning to end. I have done 2 landscaping projects now and really enjoyed both! After all, it's important to have flow from the inside of the home to outside. I hope to do more projects like this. The back yard has likely grown in since installation a couple of years ago. I will post better pics as soon…

  - Description: I was given three clues... colorful, cottage-like and wine themed. Given these clues, a budget and time frame, I completely furnished and updated this condo. We installed new hardwood floors and gave it a fresh coat of paint. I coordinated it all while they were in Europe. I love having the freedom to create this way. They were so pleased that later they had me remodel their home in Park City.
