They sold and cut the stone without any warning. The owner did come take a look at it initially, but they told us it would go away with oiling. My husband wants a built-in grill + fridge. He also wants an island, L-shaped, on the left corner. My question, if that would be too much to have all that so close to that window, which is in our kitchen? I was thinking about just doing a long cooking station only and forgoing the kitchen island. Also, should the mini kitchen be closer to the house or further down, closer to the yard? Please advise. A: This is an outside BBQ area we did awhile back and I think something like this would be a good compromise of both of your needs. You could easily have a mini fridge and the cooking area without it being too much. **Q: kitchen remodel** *(in Design Dilemma)* best countertop product A: Easy! Soapstone of course. No other product compares to the natural properties of this stone. **Q: What are these subway tiles?** *(in Photo Questions)* Are these marble subway tiles or some other stone? What is the sources? A: Yes, they are carrara marble tiles and they are beautiful to use for a back splash. MS international is a good resource for them. **Q: Our new bathroom** *(in Design Dilemma)* This is @ 6x10 main upstairs bath. We have a 20k max budget. We are undecided whether to try to fit in a small tub or use the space for a shower. We've been advised to put in a tub (this one is going) for resale value but we plan to be here as long as possible! Any design ideas would be so verybappreciated! Also flooring, lighting, suggestions please! We are a retired couple and finally have time to do this. Our home was built in 1920 and we both like a mix of traditional and funky styles. Thank you!! A: Hi @conifer18 since it is a small space, a shower would open up the room more and allow you to do a bit more and have more storage. Depending on your location I can give you references for tile and cabinetry and we do countertops! Right now most people are using grey and cream colors for tile, cabitnetry and wall colors. You could do a modern classic look to compliment the 1920's aspect of the house. Using a marble subway tile for the shower would give you that modern classic look. Dark grey tile for the flooring would compliment that beautifully. Let me know if you would like more design ideas. 760-739-0655 **Q: kitchen remodel !!** *(in Design Dilemma)* it seems I'm an expert in decorating everyone's house except my own, particularly the kitchen. we just repainted the walls. I can't decide on back splash, although I have some ideas, or countertops ! please help :( A: That can happen sometimes depending on the grey. Butcher blocks are really pretty and would still go! Since it is wood you wouldn't want to do that for splash. You could do a grey tile for the splash and it would go with the wall color. I always love glass and marble tile but they are starting to do ceramic tile that comes in beautiful patterns that are really cool looking. If you want references give me call. **Q: Is this pratima soapstone waxed? If it is, how many coats of wax?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Hi @tafwilson we use either Mineral Oil or a wax that we carry to build the patina for our soapstone.
