### Reviews

**★★★★★ — HU-588625010, March 2023**

> Phil and his team (especially René) did an incredible job adding a powder room, coat closet, and pantry to our house. Phil was so easy to work with - he came over shortly after I reached out to take a look, provided a very accurate, reasonable quote without fuss (a refreshing change after a bad experience with another company), and got the job done quickly and on schedule. He was very responsive throughout the project and always kept me updated - he stopped by the project at least every couple days to check on progress. His crew was extremely professional and friendly, and always made sure the workspace (in the center of our house) was cleaned up at the end of the day. Most importantly, everything turned out beautifully in the end. I would highly recommend him (and already have to family and friends), and can’t wait to bring him in for the next project.

**★★★★★ — Chris, Feb. 2021**

> Started on the date agreed to, even came on weekend make up day from a rained out weekday. Walk thru before final payment addressed items, correctly quickly. Good work.

**Comment from P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc.:**

> Thank You! We, at P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc., really appreciate it!

**★★★★★ — Barbara & Bill, Oct. 2020**

> Phil did a great job for us - he took a back porch and created a family room for us. He also added on a mudroom/laundry room. He was on time and on budget. He was easy to work with, and a good communicator. We are very happy with our new room.

> Thank you for the review Barbara and Bill, we at P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc., really appreciate it.

**★★★★★ — Joanne Pascale, Sept. 2020**

> I could not recommend this guy more highly. The project - a new construction garage with a roofdeck and garden - was pretty complicated. The architectural plans were very detailed and required careful implementation regarding footers, retaining walls, slopes, stairs, drainage, gutters and a rain barrel. There were also multiple inspections with the city, as the project had required a 'special exception' to zoning requirements. Phil had a very solid team of subcontractors who were all good tradesmen and he was on the job almost daily, going over the plans with them, keeping on top of details and making sure everything was going in the right direction before getting too far along. There were a few unanticipated bumps, as there always are, and Phil just hammered them out. He also has a very good eye for design and offered some great ideas regarding color and style. As the project wound down he and the architect took a final walk thru and found a few things that needed attention and Phil took care of it straightaway. The final product is fantastic - look great, functions just like it was designed to do, no drainage or other problems - overall a total success.

> Thank You Jo! I really appreciate the review, and it was a pleasure working for you.

**★★★★★ — Conni Nevills, July 2020**

> Our renovation consisted of three bathrooms, kitchen, mudroom, and resizing three bedrooms. It was completed in four months despite such a big project and the ongoing pandemic. Communication was excellent and the price was fair (had two other quotes for comparison). When we had any issues or changes to be paid, it was done to our satisfaction. Would highly recommend.

**Comment from P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc.:**

> Thank you Connie and Bryce for the review, I really appreciate it and hope you're enjoying the project.

**★★★★★ — Katharine Spreen, July 2020**

> Phil not only did a fantastic job of communicating with us throughout the project, we were also really impressed by the way he helped us get organized (what materials to order, when they needed to arrive, etc.) to ensure the job went smoothly. We're very happy with how everything turned out, and we loved getting to know Phil!

**Comment from P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc.:**

> Thank you Katharine and Luke! We enjoyed working for you and working on your project.

**★★★★★ — Mary Jansen, April 2019**

> We met with numerous contractors before deciding on P.L. Johnson. From the first conversation, it was cleat that Phil was going to work with us to make sure we got everything we wanted out of our project. Now at the end of the project, we are very pleased that Phil and his team more than delivered on their promise and exactly on budget as first discussed (with the exception of our own upgrade requests). The crew foreman is excellent and we had a great experience overall. We LOVE our new space.

**Comment from P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc.:**

> Thank you Mary for the review! I really appreciate it and I'll pass your words along to my crew.

**★★★★★ — HU-481099, Aug. 2017**

> After having worked with a couple of contractors on previous jobs, we were impressed by Phil's willingness to listen to our ideas and his genuine interest in making our project (basement renovation) turn out as nice as possible.

**★★★★★ — buystoybuy, Sept. 2015**

> I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with PLJConstruction. Phil is fantastic and works well with you to get you what you want. We’ve been in our house for over six years now. We’ve done side projects here and there with different contractors, and Phil is head and shoulders above the rest. There are a few key factors that lead me to make this recommendation:
>
> -He has a great eye to get things done the right. When he walks through a project, he catches things that I (you) may not even catch. If it’s not up to his standard; he will have it ripped out and re-done properly without haggling for additional cost.
>
> -He’s a great consultant that will talk through different ideas with you to ensure that you get the maximum out of the limited space that you may have to live with.
>
> -The subcontractors he works with are top notch - his electrician, in particular, is a true professional not out to cut corners but deliver a quality, esthetically pleasing product.
>
> We initially hired PLJConstruction to refurbish an extension to our house and finish part of our basement. We will definitely be working with Phil again as we continue to modernize our aging home.

**★★★★★ — mandy321, Aug. 2015**

> Our house is located in an old, established neighborhood. The houses are well-built, but the floor plans are traditionally configured. We found that we rarely used our dining room, and tended to gather in our small kitchen. We finally decided to combine the two rooms, so we called Phil Johnson, of P.L. Johnson Construction, Inc. As we have used this company for previous projects, we knew we could trust Phil to offer sound, professional advice during the consultation process. He listened to our ideas, asked questions, and responded to our concerns. On his part, he brought extensive experience in the field, along with creativity and an artist’s eye. We are thrilled with the space that was created. It is both purposeful and aesthetically pleasing. We appreciated Phil’s flexibility and willingness to help us personalize this area with special features and materials. After just a few months of use, we realized that Phil’s suggestions were invaluable as far as flow and efficiency. It has become a central meeting place for family and friends.
>
> Phil and his crew were polite, friendly, and respectful of our home. We appreciated their consideration in preparing and cleaning up the area each day. During the construction, they were meticulous about the details and demonstrated professionalism. They kept us informed about their progress, needs, and any changes that were necessary. The project was completed on time and on budget. We have enjoyed working with Phil and his crew on both construction projects. We certainly recommend P.L. Johnson Construction, Inc. to anyone looking for a collaborative, trustworthy, and professional contractor.

**★★★★★ — jcgdesign, July 2015**

> I used services of P.L. Johnson Construction recently for three major projects after a recent move in construction of a pre fab shed, driveway fence, and the installation of exterior exhaust vent fan. The work on all three jobs was top notch from the pre planning to the final clean up. I will definitely keep Phil's number as the first call as major jobs arise.

**★★★★★ — Seth Johnson, May 2013**

> Phil provided us with an accurate quote in a timely manner. The project started and finished on time and was within the original budget. Workers were courteous and friendly. We were highly satisfied.

**Comment from P. L. Johnson Construction, Inc.:**

> Thanks Seth, we really appreciate the review. Hope you and your wife enjoy your kitchen and backyard.

Do you have a bar in your house for entertaining? What is it like? Is it a full sized wet bar or an alternative like a cabinet or cart?

Share your experience! (photos encouraged)

A: This project was located in upper northwest Washington, DC. The bar seats four.

**Q: POLL:How would you liven up your bedroom?** *(in Polls)*

Vote for your choice below! To win a pair of Houzz slippers, post a comment telling us what you love most about your bedroom (photos welcomed too) and you will automatically be entered into the drawing.

\*One entry per person, per drawing. Entries must be posted before 12:00am Pacific Time 3/5/2014. One winner will be drawn at random.

A: Okay, thank you @ Cope Closet Concepts. I will keep your information.

**Q: How long is this vanity? Where did u find it? Is is custom ?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This vanity is three separate pieces. Two 30" cabinets and one 15" cabinet. Also on each side of the 15" middle cabinet are two small fillers. So I guess you can say it's custom. We purchased the cabinets from Kitchen & Bath Depot in Rockville, Maryland.
