Because she was so good at listening to what I wanted and made excellent suggestions, I asked her to help me with the kitchen, a small room off the entryway and a TV room on the second floor. Her work is impeccable and perfect. She used warm Tuscan colors and painted wide stripes in the hallway that look like wallpaper. People can't believe it is paint. Since we have a view of the woods, marshes and the ocean in the distance from the upstairs TV room, Raquel "brought the outside in" by using yellow and greens in a decorative glaze that makes the room feel like the outside. In the kitchen, she suggested painting the walls aqua and also the ceiling a subtle aqua. She used the paint to revive the walls, ceiling and even a Formica-topped vanity that was still very functional but not very attractive. A: i like a bedside table with a drawer. i have a great old (small) rolltop desk with cubbies. it is a pleasant surprise and has plenty of room for those items you want to hide..like earplugs and glasses, and books **Q: New Kitchen Back Spalsh** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello everyone we just remodeled our kitchen does anyone have any ideas of a beautiful back splash we would love something with a pop of color and elegant but also this is a beach house so something beachy I guess give us a few ideas and i will post a before and after Thank you !! A: I would have a stamped stainless piece behind the stove ( stamped into a picture of your choice.. maybe a beach scene), bring in a neutral field tile and accent with seaglass colored glass tiles and stainless tiles. **Q: Need help with a pine ceiling.** *(in Photo Questions)* Is this a paint or stain? And what color was used? A: this is paint. there were a few layers.. the first being a light grey. taupe, blue and white glazes were layered on. **Q: Need ideas for Den/Library** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are looking for ideas on how to approach this room. We will not move in for a few months so unable to provide more pictures. The furniture and decorations belong to the current owner, so the room will be empty when we start decorating. A: it seems like a very long room.. try separating the office space from a sitting room/library with 2 separate rugs. definitely do something with the ceiling.. install couple fans.. or box out the ceiling, you could separate the space with small rods (with drapes) on either side, pulled back.. that would lend you "usable " corners in the middle of the room. I would also add built ins on the end wall and incorporate the windows. **Q: What to do with this Ugly entertainment center??** *(in Design Dilemma)* What can I do with this??? Thinking of doing a canterra stone fireplace. The tables are carved with marble tops. This entertainment center fit the hole but I've never liked the way this looks. It's all you see. I thought about having it painted or doing something different with the hole it sets back in. The wall on the right is all glass. Thanks for your suggestions. A: ooor.. you could just hang the tv on the wall there, get rid of the wood built in, build in a simple lower cabinet assy there... you could top off with the canterra stone, or have a coordinating cushion made. **Q: Need help with kitchen! A lot of wood colors in this kitchen, too much.** *(in Design Dilemma)* My kitchen is a nice kitchen with an excellent layout. However, it is "blah" in design. I feel I have way too many wood tones going on... Wood floors, maple cabinets, walnut bakers rack, barn table, and on top of that wood kitchen chairs and bar stools! I am thinking of painting the cabinets, ivory. Any sugestions to making this large kitchen more interesting and reaching its potential? Thank you! A: a more industrial looking table and chairs would be nice.and turn them the other way.. I like the idea of painting the hutch.. you could also paint the wall behind the hutch a bit different from the rest of the kitchen. don't paint the cabinets. you will hate yourself later ... durability is not the same and you will constantly be cleaning them. --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
