I am Mark Schubert, Interior Designer and Owner. Welcome to DESIG(N)ERD, my residential and commercial design service that focuses on your needs so you fall in love with your space again.

Designing Interiors is not an easy task. It requires knowledge and understanding of line, form, colour, trends and styles. A good design includes function, style and harmony. I create this through carefully selected furnishings, wall coverings, paints, window treatments, lighting, flooring, art and accessories.

I work with reputable contractors and vendors to help make your home, office or commercial space the best it can be. I love to explore vintage shops and reclaim older furnishings, transforming them into an updated piece just for you. If I can’t find the correct furnishings from trades or want a unique look I customize art, upholster small furnishings, or create custom pieces of furniture just for the space.

Art and Design has always been my main interest and natural passion. Continually re-decorating, altering small furnishings and room accessories, creating spaces that are not just a place to live, but also an expression of you.

Before my Interior Design career, I received a B.A. in Marketing Communications from Columbia College, Chicago. I worked in the marketing and event-coordinating field for several years and specialized in event design and management. Recently, I decided to pursue my passion for all things interior and am working towards a Master of Fine Art of Interior Design at Harrington College of Design in Chicago, IL.

Interior Design is my true passion and I hope to work with you soon!

> Before moving into my home, every room needed remodeling and redecorating.  Being someone who doesn't have any experience in this area, I definitely needed help.  Mark redesigned, remodeled, and redecorated my entire home.  Remodeling 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room/dining room and a kitchen can be very challenging and time consuming but Mark met the challenge exceedingly.  Mark listened and welcomed any ideas that I envisioned for my home and incorporated each and every one of them into his brilliant designs.  Mark made sure to ask my opinion on anything he did to ensure I felt included in the revamping of my house, while also making sure to stay within the budget that I outlined.  Mark's ideas and designes were wonderful and unique and he truly created a dream house that I love.  Mark's professionalism, friendliness, dedication, and extreme hard work are some of the many reasons that I enjoyed working with him and why I would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a designer to redecorate their home.
