Ordered thru Lowe’s. They took my sink when they came to take the measurements. Upon installation, they cut the holes for the faucet and soap dispenser at my house and the holes did not line up correctly. Now I have ovals thru the sink and faucet and soap dispenser cannot be installed correctly. They gouged the side of my custom maple cabinet out after we routered out the top as per their instructions. The reveal around the sink is completely uneven with the granite covering sink edge in spots and a reveal of 1/2” in others. They are not willing to make it right in any way. Avoid these jacklegs at all cost. **★ — Hal Stuart, Dec. 2018** > Absolute stone failed to follow their own template for the granite countertops installed in 2016. The result was a new stove/oven would not fit in 2018. The stove space should have been cut to accommodate a 30" wide stove/convection oven, and they cut the granite at 29.75" for the front of the opening and 29.50" at the rear of the opening. This opening was fine for the older stove, but not the new one. Absolute stone failed to follow their original design. They changed the dimensions of the job without notice to me, and also failed to take my direction to change and enlarge the opening to accommodate a different stove/oven in the future we might choose or need. We also had problems with them grinding granite in our kitchen during installation. In addition, their workers did not have a dry saw, vacuum cleaner for cleaning-up granite dust and or ventilation gear. I had to clean-up after their people, and it was an absolute mess. They are quick and cheap, but I do not recommend them. **★ — Jody Byler, Sept. 2017** > I would not recommend Absolute Stone Design for anyone that has an alternate choice. My granite countertop from them had a chip and 2 significant scratches in the first 3 months since installation, and now it is developing multiple areas of small pits throughout the surface. They have been less than helpful in attempting to rectify the sub-standard product that we received, despite their representative claiming that "some manufacturers" skimp on the polishing process which creates a surface that is more fragile than granite should be when manufactured and polished appropriately. It has taken multiple, multiple attempts to contact them and their customer service has been terrible. And 6 months later, they still refuse to replace the countertop to provide the quality product that we paid for. We chose a granite surface for its durability, but Absolute Stone Design definitely did not deliver a product worthy of that description. I would advise others to choose a different company for your granite countertop needs. **★ — Mill Cabinet Shop, Dec. 2016** > We are a high-end cabinet maker. We decided to try out this company on one of our small jobs to see what kind of service and quality of product they offer. > Two different scheduled install times were missed. What I mean is getting a phone call after the slotted time is up to let us know that they will not be there. They have wasted my clients time, the general contractors time, and my time. They have delayed and held up completion of this project. > The stone slab was picked out in their yard with no imperfections or stains. It shows up to the site with staining, scratches, and a damaged backslash. We were then told that the staining happened in transport. Now this was Carrera Marble that is a soft porous stone. Still, the top should be perfect on arrival. > The level of service and quality are not up to my standards. A: This is 2cm Blue Lagoon marble **Q: Need help with kitchen colors and backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)* We moved into a home, with a brand new kitchen (lucky us!), however, the cabinets are very warm, and the rest of our home is done in cool tones. Having a real problem picking a color and tile to compliment both the kitchen, and the rest of our home!! A: You could use light warm colored ties of marble, travertine or porcelain imitation of either one. I personally prefer subway tile size ( 3" by 6") like this porcelain tile from MSI http://www.msistone.com/3x6-handcrafted-tiles/dove-gray/ Or this marble tile http://www.msistone.com/marble-3x6-polished/calacatta-gold/ **Q: Color for granite countertops** *(in Design Dilemma)* I'm getting ready to replace these black granite-look laminate countertops with the real deal. I'd thought for years that I'd stay with a black like Uba Tuba, but there are so many other cool colors I don't know if I should do something different. As you can see, the cabinets and floors are a maple color, so I'm afraid more brown on the countertop would be a huge beige explosion (ugh). Any insights on names and colors of granite I should check out would be MUCH appreciated - thanks! A: Hello! You might try brown family of natural granite, like St. Cecelia, New Venetian Gold, Giallo Ornamental, Giallo Napoleano All of them have a certain degree of black, I would go for the one with most black. Or you may want to play with burgundy shades, like Tan Brown or variations of Bordeaux (Sienna Bordeaux etc) Or may also try to break the browns a bit with relaxed gray patterns of natural granite, like Exodus White or River White Or you might go ahead and get cabinet doors stained:) I thought of that because for me the cabinets and the floor are too matchy, but thats very versonal:) **Q: New granite countertops - tile or granite backsplash?** *(in Design Dilemma)* We're in the process of choosing an installer for our new countertops but are not sure whether to have a tile backsplash installed all the way to the counters or a 4" granite backsplash with tile above it. We are concerned about the grout line between the tile and counters being hard to clean if we go directly from granite to tile, although that seems to be the way most people go these days. A: I think that Tropical Brown might be too busy for a small space (on the picture it appears small to me). If you like the browns you might like St. Cecelia or New Venetian Gold St. Cecelia is a Level 1 color, if you have an option for upgrading you may look for a more relaxed pattern like Madura Gold Antique Brown is a rather dark color. We have it in our showroom, and to me its more black than brown. Among the deep brown colors are Capolavoro, Minsk Premium, Magma Gold.
