We also had two bathrooms that were gutted and redone. With the exception of some minor plumbing redirection, none of our projects required changing the footprint, so we didn't need a layout change. I started requesting estimates in January, reaching out to several contractors. Most didn't return a call; the 3 that did estimates never returned a proposal. Finally decided to try the "one-stop" kitchen and bath design places along Route 1 and had much better luck. I received two proposals, both competitive, and went with Hastings. I couldn't be more pleased. Project came in on budget (less than $100K) and on time (completed in 7 weeks). > > Hastings partnered with Suburban Construction to do the labor, and both were terrific to work with. Doug Pippy did a great job with the design, creating a seamless look for our existing kitchen. Our kitchen was already outifitted with decent KraftMaid cabinetry, and we had recently redone the backsplash and added granite countertops, so we were just adding to the existing design. Hastings is a KraftMaid distributor, and they did an excellent job of matching new cabinets to the existing ones. Doug also made great suggestions for the new breakfast bar to complement the granite we already had. The completed kitchen probably increased our storage capacity by a third, if not doubled it. > > The bathrooms were redone with new cabinetry, sinks and tubs. The most dramatic change was with the main floor bath that went from 3/4 corner shower to full tub. Storage in the bathroom was also increased, with better usage of space and ceiling height. The downstairs bath got a much-needed design upgrade and overhaul. The suggestion of the hardware to use made by Doug made a huge difference in the overall look. We began the design process with Doug Pippy and we are so pleased with our experience with him, he's such a cool cat. We met with Doug, and John Hastings, the owner, multiple times to get measurements and go over designs. We also had many phone conversations and email exchanges during the entire design and renovation process. They were always available to take questions and make phone calls to vendors on our behalf, which were done very efficiently. We ran into a problem with measurements after the cabinets had been ordered, but Doug contacted KraftMaid immediately and the issue was fixed with no delays. Doug is awesome. We did not use the contractor KBH recommended, we hired our own independently, and KBH had no problem with that. We chose Maxton cabinets in high gloss pebble gray and they are lovely! Very sleek and modern! We also chose Cambria quartz in summer hill for our countertops and island top, which we love. Doug knew we were looking for a very sleek and modern European look and he certainly delivered on design and materials. He will be visiting our condo again to see the finished product and we can't wait for him to see the kitchen he helped us make a reality!
