## Community Q&A

**Q: Ugly assymmetric fireplace wall, help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The wall is totally asymmetric and staggered. We want to keep the fireplace but cannot find a good solution for the staggered hideous mantle. Demolition was suggested, but it involves replacing large flooring area ...not in the budget right now.

A: I agree with a few of the others that the furniture and the contemporary style of the fireplace don't mix well. The idea of built-in shelving in the Armour niche is a fantastic idea. I would use paint color to give the different elevations/shapes meaning, rather than trying to hide them (unless you want to spend a lot of money to take it all down). I suggest using bright bold colors, though not a fan of orange, the picture will show a little of what I mean. Accentuate it and use colors that will allow you to use your favorite decor pieces.

Everyone has their own specific recipe for a great night's sleep.  Are you someone that likes to sleep with their windows open or closed?

A: Are you kidding? In the south with 90 degrees temp and 85% - 90% humidity, you wouldn't sleep a wink!  Out west where the temp drops to 70 degrees with 5% - 10% humidity I would sleep with the doors open all the time!
