**Q: Decorating a blank wall** *(in Home Decorating)*

We just renovated the kitchen and adjoining "sitting" room.  Between the cabinets we have a big 50x50 inch white wall.  I have decided to put picture ledges there and display the kids artwork. However, behind the artwork I would like to put something on the wall. 
The lower kitchen cabinets are a dark blue, I'm wondering if it will be too "matchy" to use that same color blue as an accent on the wall in a geometric pattern, or brush pattern?
If not the blue, what other colors would you use on the wall. 
What would you do in this blank space?  I have included pictures of the blank wall and the kitchen blue.

A: I like the idea of one low 5-7" deep shelf about the height of the outlet on the right.  Then you can prop different sizes of art on the shelf and still use the surface of the cabinet top.  I also like the suggestion on a textures wallpaper behind but it doesn't have to be a dark blue.  Tile would make it feel more kitchen like and matchy matchy which I wouldn't suggest.  When you don't have a lot of art to display you can decorate with seasonal objects and one large mirror.  Good luck!
