**★★★★★ — Mark Saltzman, April 2018**

> We were absolutely delighted with the work that Ted did with us. We added an addition to our house, and his design was beautiful, blending so perfectly with the rest of the house that it looks like part of the original design. His work on the interior is similarly excellent: we have three new rooms that are efficient and beautiful and work well with our active lives. Ted is smart, thoughtful, professional, and timely. We would engage him for projects in the future, without hesitation.

**★★★★★ — Kyle Jensen, Jan. 2018**

> Ted Whitten designed our remodel for a 140 year old home and barn in New England. The design was great. We wanted to keep the historical character of the home but also upgrade everything technologically. Above all, Ted is a fantastic communicator---he is lucid, proactive, and empathetic.

**★★★★ — Zsuzsanna Somogyi, Jan. 2018**

> Ted is terrific at marrying styles and ensuring that the final project looks and feels seamless. Prior to renovation, our house was firmly in the 19th and 20th centuries - the original "middle" portion of house house was a barn dating back to the 19th century which had been updated in the middle of the 20th century, and included an addition from the 70's. Ted was able to help us think through the challenges while simultaneously respecting the integrity of the property as well as balance our own needs and wants.

> We are very happy with the results and are thrilled that thr home is now firmly in the 21st century!

**★★★★★ — Michael Schwartz, Dec. 2017**

> Ted is extremely professional and thorough. I have worked with him on renovation projects on 2 different apartments in Manhattan. Both were well designed and planned and our family was thrilled with the results. Both projects had multiple unanticipated logistical issues come up that Ted handled with efficiency and confidence. Would highly recommend.

  - Location: Cheshire, CT

  - Description: Located on a large property in bucolic Cheshire, Connecticut, this house consisted of three segments: an eighteenth-century barn flanked by a modernist guest wing and a 1980s bedroom addition. The flat-roofed guest wing leaked badly and sorely needed updating, so we replaced it with a new double-height addition with a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and loft. We also renovated the living area in the old barn, linking it to the new addition with a large opening, allowing space and light to flow from…

  - Location: New Haven, CT

  - Description: The owners of this house in the Westville neighborhood of New Haven, near the Yale Bowl, needed a third bathroom for their five-bedroom house. The four bedrooms on the second floor shared a single small bathroom, and when their college-aged children came home for holidays, morning traffic jams at the shower were routine. A leaky one-story guest room needed repair, so we extended it and added a second story with a bathroom and sunroom, making a proper master bedroom suite and taking the heat off…

  - Location: New Haven, CT

  - Description: Located in the heart of New Haven’s East Rock neighborhood which is home to many of Yale’s professors and graduate students, this classic two-family Victorian was in need of restoration and updating. The new owners loved its classic details and authentic materials, but they wanted it to be clean, safe, and complete with the conveniences and standards of modern life: air conditioning, energy efficiency, and ethernet jacks. As part of the project, I helped the owners apply for and obtain a generou…
- [Upper East Side Apartment 2](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/upper-east-side-apartment-2-pj-vj~2851192)
  - Location: New York, NY

  - Description: This was my second project for a growing family on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. With the arrival of their second child, they sold their first apartment and moved into this larger three-bedroom unit. Initially the project was only a kitchen renovation, but as we looked at the space we saw ways to improve the flow of the dining and living areas. We added a dropped ceiling made of walnut slats, a built-in media center, and some concealed cove lighting.

  - Location: New York, NY

  - Description: This was my first project in New York City: the renovation of an apartment on the eighth floor of a building at 92nd Street and Second Avenue. The clients were a young couple, both physicians, expecting their first child. We removed the walls that enclosed a tiny kitchen, creating a large kitchen/living/dining area. With the help of experienced colleagues, I learned the demanding process of working with the New York City Department of Buildings, management companies, and contractors.
