## Community Q&A

**Q: Tiler installed herringbone layout facing the wrong direction** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Just had my bath floors put in, and the tiler put them in a herringbone pattern facing the wrong direction than planned. I showed him a photo of the direction I wanted them facing, then he laid out a few tiles in the correct facing direction in front of me, and we confirmed that the whole floor would be that direction. 

I have no idea what to do... did it turn out better than if it was the original direction? Or worse? I wanted the tile to flow when you walk in and out of the bathroom. When you look in the doorway, it looks like a zipper to me. 

I attached a photo photo showing the tile layout I wanted (and showed the installer), how it currently looks, and a copy of my bath floor plan for reference. Both photos are taken from looking through the doorway.

A: That's a gorgeous job. The shower tiles point toward the drain I believe which is better for drainage. And the floor tiles align with the shower tiles at the grout lines which shows craftsmanship. Beautiful marble.
