However, since the project was completed, three of the bluestone tiles have cracked down the middle during regular use. The first two times this happened, Edward was very responsive, and sent out his team within a few weeks to replace the broken bluestone tile free of charge. > > After the second broken tile, Edward told us that if this were to happen again, he would either replace the entirety of the tiles and/or the subsystem. Unfortunately, a third tile did break this April (2 years after initial installation). I contacted Edward and he set a date for a team to come out to replace it, but cancelled day-of. Despite multiple emails and phone calls, I have not been able to get ahold of Edward or anyone at Outside Space in the weeks since. > > The broken tiles are not just inconvenient, but dangerous -- because of the nature of the pedestal system, the tiles are set about 6 inches above the bottom of the terrace, and have the potential to cause real injury if someone fell through. We interviewed several contractors- one never gave us an estimate, a couple of others made the job seem much more complicated and lengthy than it needed to be (read much more expensive!). Edward’s team was very reliable, professional, courteous, and efficient. Edward was also very responsive and accommodating to changes to the job that we wanted after the project had started - and the cost of the change orders was also very fair. They finished the entire job on time and within the budget. Lastly, we were very impressed with his willingness to return and make some minor adjustments after the job was completed and paid in full. This fence and planter combo was designed and constructed on an existing concrete wall. **Q: How was the tile installed?** *(in Photo Questions)* I'm curious to know what was used below the tile and how does it manage the cold winter months. A: Actually it is blue stone that’s is set in cement. So it withstand winter great! **Q: What Wood have you used?** *(in Photo Questions)* Lovely work. Simply love the minimalist styling and the cozy feel. Wanted to know what wood you have used in this project? A: it is cedar. **Q: I like the bluestone planters. What are they made of?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: stacked stone planter and block work planter stuccoed with polished concrete **Q: Bamboo** *(in Photo Questions)* Where can I purchase live bamboo plants? Open for suggestions for urban oasis privacy shrubs. A: Its depends where you live and what type of Bamboo you would like. Running bamboo is invasive and has to be installed properly into ground with barriers or in Containers. Clumping bamboo is not invasive but takes little longer to fill out. I get mine from local nurseries.
