### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Kendall Clinton, Aug. 2019**

> Along with being outstanding blacksmith artists, the Maynards are very dedicated members of the community who often give of their time, talents and resources to help others. They volunteered after hours on several nights in the summer of 2018 to build a model bourbon barrel warehouse to display at the Kentucky State Fair in the booth representing Anderson County, where they live. The quality and creativity of their work on any project and their passion for what they do is very inspiring.

> Beautiful , unique work, on time and under budget. We have a piece of art on our back patio. I can't praise them enough. Real artists and professionals.

> Maynard Studios = highest degree of artistry paired with the ultimate in professionalism. I only wish there were more stars! Thank YOU!

> Maynard Studios (Matt, Karine and their entire team) are INCREDIBLE artists who are dedicated to their craft of architectural design through metalwork. They pay extreme attention to the details of every project they have worked on for us at Castle & Key - custom cash wrap, tasting bar, chandeliers, piped shelving, etc. They are punctual, professional, teamwork-oriented and passionate. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that we receive the best results and we could not be more thrilled with their work, which exceeded our highest expectations. I would recommend Maynard Studios to anyone who is interested in custom metal work and elevated architectural design! They're the best!

**★★★★★ — Stephanie Montgomery, Dec. 2015**

> Karine and Matt are unbelievably talented individually. As a team, they bring art, design and function together beautifully. The process involved us gathering photos of what we liked, having Karine and Matt tour the space to get a feel for the design and style of the overall project, and Karine sketching ideas to ensure everyone was on same page. Within a week of the first meeting, we were ready to move to the production schedule.
>
> Through their experience, Karine and Matt were able offer ideas and add unique touches that go perfectly with the design of our home. Matt was knowledgeable of stairwell building code so not only is our stairwell beautiful to look at, it is solid and we did not have to stress about meeting the safety standards necessary for our home inspection.
>
> When meeting Karine and Matt, you will gain a level of confidence that these two can successfully transition your dream from paper to reality.

> Karine and Mathew Maynard are unbelievably talented and a pleasure to deal with. They made a one of a kind table base for us that was absolutely beautiful. Their artistry with metal is like nothing that I have ever seen. We are already thinking of other projects to incorporate more of their work into our home. I would encourage anyone looking for a high quality piece of original metalworking craftsmanship to contact Manard Studios. You will not be sorry.

> I have worked with Karine and Matt Maynard of Maynard Studios on several projects. They have the wonderful combination of being creative and precise. They are committed to 100 percent customer satisfaction. My latest installation is even ahead of schedule.

> We have just completed a large scale renovation of a water-front home in Annapolis MD and the final piece to fall into place was a hand forged stair railing for our three level staircase designed and produced by Maynard Studios. We came into contact with Matt and Karine Maynard after seeing a review of their work on HOUZZ and realizing that all our favorite images were produced by them. After exchanging several e-mail messages and having a few phone conversations, we asked the Maynards to propose a design for our home. The design we selected was customized for our specific needs and reflected the water-front nature of the house and surrounding environment. It was simple, yet elegant, highly functional and incredibly creative and beautiful. The Maynard proposal was not only cost competitive with other blacksmiths in our area but the quality of the workmanship and the detailed hand construction far surpassed anything else we saw. The choice was not only easy; it was overwhelmingly compelling. Matt and Karine came to our home twice during the process, once to conduct a detailed survey and measure, and a second time for the installation. From beginning to end, they were delightful to work with and we were always taken by their kindness and thoughtfulness. After seeing quite a number of images of their previous work, we had high expectations, but nothing prepared us for the beauty and quality that actually came with their finished product, a true work of art. Our railing is hand forged steel with a bronze hand cap and decorative touches. It literally steals the show! The Maynards also designed and built an exterior railing for the entry steps and an ingenious towel bar that wraps around a large butcher block table/island that is in the center of our kitchen. We would enthusiastically and unconditionally recommend Maynard Studios to anyone interested in a beautiful hand crafted and unique stair railing designed just for you to fit perfectly into whatever style and space you have in your house.

**★★★★★ — Sol Clahane, Sept. 2014**

> The craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail is unmatched. The custom work this husband and wife team do is superb. They are creative and visionary. Their designs are simply beautiful. I love working with them and look forward to working with them again soon.

> Maynard Studios has been so great to work with. I've been in the process of getting my company, the 10th Mountain Whiskey & Spirit Co., off the ground. I've worked with many, many different vendors to help launch. Many of them have been difficult, at best, to work with.
> Maynard studios has been an exception. They are great to work with. Not only is their work absolutely beautiful, but they meet their deadlines and go out of their way to please. Don't hesitate to work with Maynard Studios. You'll be glad you did!

**★★★★★ — sjreviews, Jan. 2014**

> Maynard studios designed, manufactured and installed two staircase handrails for my house. They were extremely professional and on time. More importantly their design and work is a true work of art. I am already working with them again on a few other projects for our house and I look forward to more. I highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in high value and quality work.

**★★★★★ — lhollemb, Nov. 2013**

> Maynards Studios made a custom piece of furniture for an antique dollhouse that has been in my family for years. We designed it together, using the pictures of how I wanted to display the piece. The visit to their Studio was excellent. The piece is gorgeous, it does not detract from the details of what we're trying to show off while being a beautiful piece in our foyer. Karine and Matt are delightful to work with, incredibly artistic, yet practical. We plan to have more work done by Maynard when we build our next home.

After lengthy discussion with Gail, it was decided that the plain wood balusters would be removed but wood handgrips and newel post would be kept from grand staircase and the Maynards would create and install a new balustrade to fit underneath and between the existing newels. - Description: This railing was designed for clients who happened to have a collection of work by the artist Salvador Dali. With this railing, we attempted to blend nouveau and classical elements in a way that we had never done before, while also accepting the challenge from our client to create portions of the rail that appear to be melting, as if made of wax.

  - Description: Matthew and Karine designed & created this handrail in forged steel with forged bronze hand grip and accents. Due to the home's location directly on the Chesapeake Bay, it was suggested that the three story design echo a nautical theme without being too loud about it. Subtle lines were incorporated to convey the idea of swagged ropes or the draping fabric of a stowed sail. Large 3" diameter newel posts were forged to a taper and designed to be reminiscent of mooring bollards with large diameter…

By introducing some lyrical, almost Nouveau elements, both on the scrollwork and as short panels at the turns, the traditional S-scrolls ha…

**Q: I bought a home with these handrail panels.** *(in Photo Questions)*

I bought a home in Texas with these iron baluster / panels (the ones with knuckles only ) and I need to buy some replacements. Where can I order them from? Please help! :)

A: This railing was made in our blacksmith's shop, without pre-ordered panels. But you may call a fabrication shop in your area who could help you match the work in your railing. (Look up "iron fabricators" or "ornamental iron" or "ornamental metal working" in the yellow pages or google, for your hometown). IF they were pre-bought panels, they would be the folks who would know how to order more.

A: Hi Jacqui! Thanks for your inquiry. Each bronze cap rail is made custom to fit each railing. This means however, that we do not have any made in "stock" or in "inventory" for purchase.

I look forward to discussing with your further about the possibility of a commission! You can send me any details and attachments to my direct email: karine@maynardstudios.com and we'll talk soon.
