> I couldn't have been happier with my whole experience of working with Kathleen. She very quickly assessed my tastes and was eager to present options that would work for me. She and Neil Kelly were very professional in the whole project process. I never worried about meeting deadlines, keeping my place clean and secure, and doing top quality work. I would not hesitate to recommend Kathleen in any home improvement project.

> I have worked with Kathleen for more than 20 years. She has seen our 1914 Craftsman home through several minor and major renovations. Her work is timeless and beautiful. Neil Kelly Company staff think of everything to make the process as convenient as possible. One cannot place a value on the Kathleen's experience as a designer. She is worth every penny. Even better she is a pleasure to work with!

> Kathleen was wonderful to work with. She was very informative and knowledgeable and always knew the answer to any question I asked. If she didn't have the answer, she was quick with her research. She is very creative and talented, genuine and personable. Her energy is admirable. The type of person anyone would want to work with, as well as be a friend.

> Kathleen designed an efficient and beautiful kitchen for our very small 1919 bungalow. Working within the confines of the existing galley, she gave us much more workable counter space with great lighting. The quality of her lighting and surfacing ideas makes the room look like a jewel box in the middle of the house! Before the remodel it was a dark, awkward space. Design details, like the hutch, nicely integrate the room with the character of rest of the house. Thanks to her knowledge and experience of materials, Kathleen was able to incorporate many of our own ideas into the plan while tactfully saving us from those we would undoubtedly come to regret. She knows her job!

> Collaboration with thoughtful guidance from an experienced professional best describes our experience working with Kathleen Donohue. We would highly recommend her to work with others with their designing needs.
>
> Kathleen has been our designer, collaborator, advocate and friend throughout our master bath, stone fireplace, and front entry stonework remodeling project. We were impressed and felt an immediate connection when we first met Kathleen at one of Neil Kelly’s workshops. From there we set up an appointment for the following week at our home where she got a feel of what we liked and wanted along with an understanding of the scope of the project we had in mind. Over the next several weeks we continued to meet either at her office, at our home, or at a local business showroom. Each appointment brought us closer to our remodel goals. After getting to know us and our preferences, Kathleen prepared initial drawings for consideration. At each subsequent meeting she would take our input and modify plans for review for the next time as she brought us closer to the final agreement of what the project would encompass for both budget and design. Throughout the project she worked closely with us on colors and material selections. She brought product samples and catalogs to our meetings to narrow down what we wanted, and considered including products that we found along the way. We felt that throughout the project she was committed to listening to our vision and input while providing her professional expertise and experience to come up with an intricate plan.

> We found Kathleen to be creative, friendly, responsive, and an intuitive professional. There were times for problem solving along the way throughout the process and it all was handled well with the support of Kathleen. Our end project is beautiful and we are very pleased with it. We enjoyed working with Kathleen and appreciated her positive “can do” attitude from start to finish. We would not hesitate to hire Kathleen again for any future project.

> Neil Kelly is very lucky to have Kathleen Donohue in their employ. She is a gifted designer and planner. But most of all she seems to have the uncanny ability to read people...just after one visit to our home she returned with samples for tile, flooring, cabinets, counter top, paint and sink styles/colors. Unbelievably, we only changed the color of the sink. We are enjoying our beautiful and efficiently laid out kitchen and absolutely love all her detailed touches. In addition, Kathleen is easy to work with, quickly responding to our questions/concerns and often went out of her way to help resolve any issues during the development and building stages...right to the final inspection (and even beyond). Thank you Kathleen for a project exceptionally well done.

**★★★★★ — Leah Appel, Oct. 2015**

> Kathleen did the design work for a major kitchen/bathroom remodel. From the beginning she was able to hone in on what would work best for me. She guided me through the design decisions, reducing an overwhelming number of choices to a manageable number that were appealing to me and within my budget. Her knowledge of the various products (e.g. Sinks, tile, cabinets) allowed me to choose wisely. It was obvious she had excellent relationships with the vendors when we were out shopping together. My kitchen is both beautiful and functional. One year later I would not change anything about it!

**★★★★★ — DAPPLED EARTH– designs to nurture life!, July 2015**

> When you walk into a room that Kathleen has designed the impact is immediate: Serene and beautiful. Relaxation followed by awe. Everything belongs. Everything complements each other. Everything together does make the room better than the sum of its parts. The rooms are comfortably sized. Kathleen's designs are not trendy. Rather, she has a keenly developed sense of how to pull ideas and materials together that go beyond a current trend into a timeless composition.
>
> Kathleen and I have worked on several residential remodel projects together. She was responsible for the interior design and installation of the kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living rooms. she is a pleasure to work with. The homeowners are exceptionally happy with her creations, response to their requirements, scheduling, and coordination with other contractors.

**Comment from Kathleen Donohue, Neil Kelly Co.:**

> Thanks for the lovely endorsement, Eileen -- your landscape design and installation services always add the perfect finishing touch and it's always a pleasure to work on a project with you!

**★★★★★ — Imagine Stoneworks, Dec. 2014**

> Kathleen is an experienced and passionate designer. She as the ability to work with projects both large and small as well as complex and simple. Her experience allows her to draw on many different ideas and visions, allowing the client the exact look, feel and function they are hoping for with their design. Kathleen's desire to produce the highest quality end result, shows in her never ending pursuit of 100% client satisfaction. I would highly recommend Kathleen to any client looking for the designer that works tireless throughout the project.

**★★★★★ — lauracarol, Dec. 2014**

> Kathleen is a dedicated designer and does an excellent job. She is very thorough and conscious of the fine details. She is a pleasure to work with.

**★★★★★ — jrbolk, Nov. 2014**

> Kathleen was our sales rep. She managed all aspects of the project through the design and pricing phase, providing useful and cost effective suggestions along the way. Checked in routinely during the 4-month construction process. We couldn't have been happier with the services she provided.

 - Location: Bend, OR

- [Seattle Historic Master Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/seattle-historic-master-bath-pj-vj~2739943)
 - Location: Seattle, WA
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: We remodeled the kitchen in this stately Historic Greek Revival home 15 years ago and it still looks beautiful and timeless. The owners felt it was time to treat themselves to a lovely master bath suite. The old bath had been remodeled in "modern" style in the '60's, complete with coin tiles -- back in style now, but not right for this home. Details were of utmost importance, as the room needed to have up to date luxury and convenience, but look as if it belonged in the period home, full of anti…

- [Portland Master Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/portland-master-bath-pj-vj~2126480)
 - Location: Portland, OR
 - Photos: 12
 - Description: A love of classical simplicity inspired the remodel of this master bathroom. The old space was compartmentalized dark, dominated by a large pedestal mounted tub and the original tiled shower was dark and uninviting. The clients wanted a space that was convenient to use on busy mornings, but inviting enough to linger in the soaking tub. A combination of task and ambient lighting helps to achieve this, and the clean, simple lines of the space are soothing and relaxing.

- [Matisse Inspired Small Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/matisse-inspired-small-bath-pj-vj~1723250)
 - Location: Lake Oswego, OR
 - Photos: 8
 - Description: A small family room bath on the main floor of this family home needed to be converted to a master bath and the adjoining family room was to become a main floor master bedroom. Accessibility was a key component. While the small footprint of the bath was only expanded slightly, a second entry door was eliminated, and simplicity of design helped to make the most of the space. An open, curbless shower with a fixed glass splash panel helped expand the space, and a small, single sink vanity with banjo…
- [Old Town Bungalow](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/old-town-bungalow-pj-vj~1549287)
 - Location: Bend, OR
 - Photos: 10
 - Description: This charming, diminutive bungalow is in a neighborhood of small homes built for mill workers in the 1920's. Now, much sought after, these homes are being updated, remodeled and reinvented for their new owners in this popular, close-in Bend neighborhood. Remodeled poorly sometime in the last century, it was time to restore this small kitchen to its former charm, but incorporate up to date amenities. The solution was to scale the appliances to fit the room. A 24" refrigerator/freezer and an 18" d…

- [Seattle Historic Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/seattle-historic-kitchen-pj-vj~104570)
 - Location: Seattle, WA
 - Photos: 4
 - Description: A previous remodel had cabinets obscuring original windows and a peninsula, with overhead cabinets further closed off the kitchen from adjacent spaces. Removing the cabinets and restoring the original windows opened up the space to much needed natural light. To make up for lost cabinet space, glass fronted cabinets were extended to the countertops for a hutch configuration. The new, bright kitchen boasts state of the art appliances and convenience, but looks right at home in this 1910 Greek Revi…

 - Description: This 1990's ranch style home is surrounded by acreage and horse pastures. The existing master bedroom occupied the second floor, but had no view of the front of the home. An open loft area at the top of the stairs was unused, wasted space. There was a small closet office off of the loft and the existing master bath was crowded and had no tub. By incorporating the small closet into the bathroom space and adding a 2-story bay window addition, the new bath is large, light-filled and graciously appo…

 - Description: This hilltop home, deisgned and built in the early '70's, featured a yurt-like design of the main living space, but the kitchen and a small den were walled off from the view. By removing walls, with the help of engineering and concealed steel beams, the kitchen and dining areas are now opened up to the views all around. Original oak flooring was refinished and expanded to unify the space, and natural beech cabinets blended with the wood ceiling and floors. Stunning Roma Imperiale quartzite slab…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Like the glass in the cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please provide information on the cabinet glass?
thanks

A: Those inserts are actually resin panels (pllexi-glass) with embedded materials, in this case, reeds. The company who makes them is called Lumicore, in Renton, WA https://www.lumicor.com/
They are sold in large sheets, and they can be cut to size to fit the cabinet door frames, etc.

**Q: What brand and color are the perimeter counters?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love this kitchen and my upcoming kitchen has some similarities. I would love to know more about the counters.

A: The perimeter countertops are Caesarstone quartz, and the color is "Fresh Concrete" -- available in both polished and matte finish. We chose the matte finish.

**Q: What brand of stove/range is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I would like to know make and model of the range.

A: The stain used on the cabinets was called "Wheatfield" and we used a Chocolate Glaze over that, to highlight the knots in the wood.

**Q: what name brand are the blinds in the kitchen?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Kitchen window treatment

A: The window shades are Sillouette by Hunter Douglas

**Q: Like the powder room mirror.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who makes this mirror?

A: The mirror was from the client's collection -- she's owned it for some years and doesn't recollect the source.

**Q: Could you tell me the size and depth and brand of the microwave? Thank** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you tell me the size and depth and brand of the microwave? Thanks!

A: Hi, see micro specs above. That project was done in 2014, so don't know if that exact micro is still available, but if not, there would be one very similar in size, I'm sure. Hope this helps!
