For example how easy it is to clean, up keep, mounting and etc. A: Where is this tub going, Fannie? That is the biggest question to answer. Most bathrooms have a space for a typical 5 foot tub. Is this a replacement tub, or part of your reno? There are two basic types to look at: steel and acrylic (plastic). Steel tubs will hold water temperature longer than acrylic. Unless you add insulation to the underside of the tub. But this can present a problem if you have jets. One thing I don't suggest is to buy the cheapest one. You get what you pay for, right? **Q: closet** *(in Design Dilemma)* Master bedroom closet ideas, 10' long 4'wide with 8' ceiling, i need ideas please it is not built yet. A: If that's not a load-bearing wall, then open the wall right up with four glass sliding doors (since you like glass). It'll be too tight with only one door to access the whole 10 feet. Then you can have a full wall of organizers and even you dresser can be stored in there. **Q: Need help with kitchen layout** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need an island and a kitchen table that would seat max of 8. Wondering if this would crowd and look congested. The island can be smaller than the one drawn or even an island and a nook in the front. Any help or suggestions appreciated. A: I'm the 10th child of 11. Your kitchen and living room are almost the size of the whole house I grew up in. I think the time we spend with family is much more valuable than the seating space to eat at. During Christmas with the extended family, the living room sofa and chairs were pushed against the walls to accommodate tables through the middle of the living room. And then there would be the younger ones crammed at the kitchen table. These were the best times I remember growing up. I remember "graduating" from the kitchen table to sit with the adults. I think you need to work with what you've got and be creative with everything else. No one will think anything less and regret being with the family. **Q: 32x32" shower. Got curtain ideas?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Our little beach house has a 32x32 " shower. We removed the tin can unit and put in a tiled shower but now I need to rig a water barrier/curtain. Any ideas? The ceilings are very high, about 12 feet with a clerestory above the shower enclosure. A: You don't need anything higher than the shower head. And you're better off with a glass door than any curtain. It's easier to keep clean and it won't build up mold like a curtain will. It will also give the small area much needed light. **Q: Sun-burnt front door is taking a beating** *(in Design Dilemma)* My south-facing, 2-year old front door is taking a beating by the sun. Paint is showing wear and cracks are forming in the wood. Has anyone ever done a cement-board or ceramic on their front door? What can I do to make my front door last longer and look better? A: Unfortunately, it's an all too common problem irregardless of where you live. I see much of it in Ontario. What I recommend is to sand the door down and get rid of any flaking paint. Repaint with a good quality paint preferably with an UV ray inhibitor. Then apply several coats of marine varnish or spar urethane which has it's own UV protection and remains flexible throughout the changing temperatures of the seasons. As well as helps keep the water out. I hope this helps. **Q: ı need a living room design** *(in Design Dilemma)* there re my stuff u will see on photos. i need your advise about decoration and what kind carpet and curtain should i choise? A: Ilknur, You're lacking color. Everything is either white, gray or brown. There is nothing defining to start from, therefore the options are too vast to give a proper opinion. If you ask 100 people, you'll get 100 different opinions. Then you'll REALLY be confused. Could I suggest you go out and buy a beautiful, colorful painting that you like. That strikes you right away and hang it on the wall. Then pick the colors you like best and work from there. Choose a subtle color in the painting for the walls with one accent wall one of the boldest colors in the painting. Choose throw pillows that match both the sofa and the painting.
