A: Stunning! **Q: what color kitchen hardware?** *(in Design Dilemma)* My stove and oven are black. My refrig, sinks and hardware are stainless. My cabinets are light. So what color should my cabinet hardware be? A: Brushed nickel would make the kitchen look newer, and if you change the oven/micro at some point - it will likely be stainless steel. Here's a picture of a similar scenario, where we used brushed nickel (and the homeowner kept the existing black oven/micro/cooktop). **Q: urgent help needed with safe countertops** *(in Design Dilemma)* need help to choose counter top that is safest concerning radioactive or toxic fumes A: Quartzite or butcherblock would be your safest route. A lot of granites emit radiation, and engineered quartz contains resin. **Q: What would you do to update this 1987 room?** *(in Design Dilemma)* If you couldn't afford new stone, and you had a "transitional" style...would you paint or whitewash this gas fireplace? Which color would you choose for the walls? Would you paint the shutters/blinds and cabinets white? Would love to have your opinion. Thanks! A: A slightly warmer wall colour and new furniture would do wonders for this room! Also - consider painting/refinishing the brass fireplace insert. The wood trim looks great with the floors and cabinetry - and painting these would call for painting all the doors/trim throughout the house.
