> Our Architect brought Rick Shields with Shields Construction to do a large remodel / new construction to an existing 8000 square foot home. It was a very painful / horrible experience working with Rick Shields. He was rarely on the job and his honesty was a major concern. Billing was beyond disaster. Questionable change orders through the roof without any pictures or backup receipts. We ended up giving him a notice to perform, and he failed to perform. Even after paying him $950,000 for a demo and removal of dirt under existing footings, Rick added $450,000 additional change orders, that made no sense. We basically got a small pad for pool house, removal of subfloor, dirt under the footings per plan and a demo. The schedule was delayed and we will now be spending lot more in rush to get the construction started by a reputable contractor with full crew and a legitimate office.
