Immediately it was apparent we were way over our heads. Having been familiar with another 2 Blue Chairs project, we choose to interview Kelly. From our first meeting we knew that Kelly’s priority was to create a space that we wanted and, more importantly, that functioned and worked for our family. He really listened to our wants and needs and then built his design around that. The end product is both functional and beautiful, and only time will tell, but I believe it will also hold up well and not become dated in a few short years. Kelly was very detailed and exceptional at managing the project. One of the things that impressed me most was that Kelly was prompt and accessible – he actually answers his phone and returns emails. He worked very well with our contractor and the subs. Our builder even used one of Kelly’s subs which saved us substantially. I wanted the house to feel more current and open and bright. I had recently relocated from living at the beach and was missing that so Kelly gave me that feeling throughout the home. When I moved and made the home a rental property, it rented in a snap- I do attribute this in part to Kelly's color recommendations. > > Our next project was to be a nearly complete remodel with my finance. But in the end it was decided that making that house into what we wanted was going to take too long and be too costly, so we shelved the project and purchased a different home nearby that would be easier and faster to update. We must have made an on-the-fly purchase from a showroom. My apologies. **Q: Manufacturer of gold Calcutta** *(in Photo Questions)* Who makes this vanity, or can you tell me who, in Austin, has this gold Calcutta available to have one made? Thanks! A: A carpenter first build the box to specs; we sourced the stone at Moe Freid, and it was then fabricated and installed over the frame onsite. **Q: Tile** *(in Photo Questions)* What kind of tile is the backsplash? Where can I get it? A: It is by Artisan Stone Tile, part of their Accents collection (the Flourish design; see their website for vendors). It's a 3x3 tile that is - as the collection suggests - intended as an accent tile (so it isn't meshed and ends up being a tad pricey...but a lovely splurge the client was willing to make, considering the impact). **Q: Love this desert pink marble** *(in Photo Questions)* Can you tell me how long ago this was done and where did you find this marble. I used this marble about 15 years ago in CA and now I want to do a bathroom with this in TX. (DFW area) This sample matches what I am looking for as far as the color variations. A: We completed this project earlier this year, and sourced the marble here in Austin at Moe Freid. In DFW, I would suggest you make an appointment with Holland Stone - they have a fantastic selection of exotic stone slabs. Good luck! **Q: Flooring** *(in Photo Questions)* How long do you have the lock tile tiles, and how are they holding up? A: That's a great question. The home has changed hands from our original client, so I couldn't say. These tiles were chosen for their high-durability.
