I know the drawers are going to bump into each other in the layout below, but it will be fixed in final design! To the left of the window are floating shelves. The peninsula, which I cannot draw in this software, has an overhang on the left side so you can sit and eat. It also has base cabinet access from both sides. I think keeping the floating shelves near the window/peninsula/patio door is better to make that area more open (?). On the top-right of the wall, do you think I should keep the entire bank of wall cabinets, or do half cabinet, and the other floating shelves (closer to the door)? This door opens to the side of the house (not the primary entry door), and is half glass. Lastly I have two questions about the sink. I am currently not a heavy cook. I am debating between a single or double bowl sink, and whether to increase the sink size to 36 inches (thus requiring a 39 inch base cabinet). If a double bowl sink, I would get something like a 60/40 low divide. The reason is I have traditionally washed by hand (dirty one side, clean and rinse other side), but I am thinking going dishwasher more often because I think I end up using 2-3x more water. My current kitchen has a double bowl sink, 18 inch width & 14 inch width. My largest pan (currently) can fit into the larger size bowl, occasionally if I need to clean a grill plate then it does not completely sit. I have also looked into workstation sinks, but I'm not sure I will make too much use of it. A: Floating shelves are great for display, but low on function. In making your design choices, think function first, then add "the pretty". For example, are you sure you have enough uppers for your storage needs? Even if you have all white plates, you probably have some ugly plastic cups too that need to be behind doors. Open shelves tend to be a luxury for large kitchens. If you soak your dishes, you need a double sink. If you don't, you will love the openness of a single basin. Good luck! **Q: Help with floor plan layout** *(in Remodeling)* Hello all. Couple quick questions for the community. My wife and I are remodeling our existing residence and would love some feedback as it relates to usability, flow and just overall feel for the space. Our main concern is the formal living and dining room as it relates to the entry and elevation of the home. Currently its a vaulted ceiling in the mainroom and we have actually discussed redoing this entire space, either raising the ceilings to 16' flat or reworking the vault into more of a "Barn Style" main room which would vault the other direction. Just a little stuck on this one and could use some great feedback. I will try and attach a few photos along with the existing floor plan, new "idea" floorplan and any other relevant details as needed. We dont love the current entry and it feels to tight and enclosed for our liking. I might raise the floor in that front living room areas, adjacent to the entry, allowing you you unify the flooring. That will make the entry/living room feel like one and it all will feel bigger. Good luck! **Q: Color selection help (Benjamin Moore)** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are going to plaster our stone fireplace. I’m looking for help on selecting the color or colors. (I’ve read some people will choose to do two colors to help provide more depth) Must be Benjamin Moore as that is where I’m buying the Venetian Plaster. Please note – this will be a Matte to Satin finish, definitely not shiny. The existing color of the walls and ceiling is White Dove. I am also planning to replace the hearth so need to hustle up and figure that out! Photos are existing room plus what I want the fireplace to look like. \*We are still getting in furniture, side tables, table lamps, different chandelier, etc. The purpose of this post is really asking for Paint Color selection ideas. Has anyone used these together and happen to have photos to share? There are hardly any photos online of Clarino counters with white cabinets. I have medium brown LVP and am also wanting to coordinate with a subway tile backsplash that is preferably off white. Any ideas/recommendations? I appreciate your time and consideration. A: It looks like your quartz has warm veining, correct? Alabaster will work wonderfully with that and your LVP.
