> Tara brings a level of taste to every endeavor. She is so much fun to work with but she bring a seriousness to every layer of a project from the detail of a curtain to the practicality of a selection. I have had her individual attention and the service of her highly organized office. Deadlines are met, budgets are maintained and the results are breathtaking.

> Tara Seawright was hired by me to redecorate our living room. She is wonderful to work with on every level. Tara was patient with our many changes of mind and always was respectful of our budget. She got what I wanted, younger fresher look, and got us there making the experience enjoyable all the while. She has a great eye and could incorporate art and collections I had before seamlessly into the new look. Even my husband who dug his heals in durring the process and did not want to change a thing, is very happy. We actually spend more time in our living room now.

 - Location: New York, NY

 - Description: This elegant 2 bedroom apartment on the Upper East Side is Seawright’s own home and came with the challenge of creating additional storage and efficiency. The design was inspired by all of Seawright’s favorite creative influences from Coco Chanel to Pauline de Rothschild. Seawright made sure the space could be used as a sort of design lab where she can try out new ideas whether trying out the design of a custom piece of furniture or auditioning a new vendor. In the second bedroom a custom librar…

 - Description: For this newly-built vacation home, Seawright wanted to straddle the line between summer fun and year round appropriateness. New construction is always challenging because it lacks a natural patina of personality; by using textured fabrics, patterns and beautiful rugs we made this house a home. Having worked with this client on two previous projects, and given that clients often feel more comfortable taking creative risks in a vacation home, Seawright was able to push the clients into new areas…

 - Description: This triplex, purchased by a young family, was a new construction home lacking character and originality, with ceilings ranging from 10 to 14 feet high. As a solution to the voluminous space, we created a smaller more intimate feeling using custom wall colors in rich tones, textured wallpapers, and added warmth and personality though patterns, textures, art and antiques. In the oversized playroom we added an additional guest room, and to the master bedroom a small office/dressing room for the hu…

 - Description: A returning client purchased this outdated waterside cottage in the hopes of transforming it into a modern retreat for their family. They loved the close location to the water, but knew its small size would only work for their family for a few years. Since their time frame in this cozy cottage was brief we needed a quick and affordable solution to decorate. By painting the floors a bright white, adding simple window treatments only where necessary and using strategic pops of color in a neutral b…

 - Description: This space was designed for the 2012 Hampton Designer Showhouse, presented by Traditional Home. The outdoor area started as a dirt yard with a massive hole in the ground behind a large new-construction house. With little to inspire us, we received help from Liebhaber Construction, who generously donated a pergola, and the beautiful outdoor furniture provided by Barlow Tyrie. The design was then created with a fictional family in mind; young, active and happy; similar to the many clients we typic…

 - Description: This 3,500 square foot Park Avenue apartment was purchased by a long time client and needed a full renovation. We converted this space into a sophisticated adult apartment, while remaining kid-friendly for their two children, through the use of super comfortable upholstery, durable elegant fabrics and a mixture of colors and textures throughout to add a touch of glamour. In the process, my client’s interest in art blossomed and we began putting together an extensive collection of art that reflec…

 - Location: Not specified

 - Description: This table top was designed in conjunction with a lecture given during the Spring Market Week at the D&D Building in Manhattan. We were asked to create a table top vignette using Jab fabrics and Lenox china, with carte blanche to pick from both vendors incredible selections of inventory. The design was inspired by beautiful florals blended with unexpected patterns to create a sophisticated look that spoke of spring. Given the temporary nature of a table setting, it allows you to create bold and…

 - Description: This table vignette was designed for The New York Tabletop Show at Forty One Madison’s Market Week, presented by New York Cottages and Gardens. This prestigious event is a go to for table top buyers from all over the world, and given that it is a fictional gathering we decided to create something unexpected and perhaps a tad impractical; something that would truly stand out. The genesis for the design was the fur tablecloth, we then chose a china pattern with accents of pink and gold that would…

 - Description: Lenox invited our office to create a tablescape using their classic china pattern “Holiday”, for a feature on holiday table settings. Not wanting to create a clichéd red and green vignette, we were inspired by the beautiful blue chevron fabric from Brunswig & Fils (used for the placemats) and the blue floral fabric (used for the napkins). These fabrics mixed with the traditional heirloom china pattern created a contemporary look reminiscent of a white Christmas, setting the tone for a great part…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Tub deck installation** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi Tara, We are in the middle of a similar tub/show remodel with a framed under-mount tub, topped with a marble deck. Our contractor recommends cutting diagonals at the corners of the deck to slightly tilt each of the four sides to divert shower water back into the tub. Did you do something similar here? It's hard to tell from the pics. I'm not sure how conventional the idea is and how it will effect the overall look. What are your thoughts?

A: I'm not a contractor but in my experience we have only ever used a solid piece of marble so there are no seams for leaking or mold. Good luck!

**Q: Who makes the bamboo blinds?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm looking to do a similar layered look with long sheers at my new beach house. Thanks!

A: Hi! The bamboo shades were custom made from Lore Decorators, (212) 534-1025. I've worked with them many times over the years and, in my experience, they are competitively priced. If you're not in the NY area, many stores sell bamboo shades. You can check out the shade store (https://www.theshadestore.com/shades/woven-wood-shades). Hope this helps!

**Q: What is the name of the couch?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What's the fabric? Where could I buy it?

A: Hi! The sofa is from Crate & Barrel, I believe it's the Axis II Sectional. The ultrasuede fabric is also from Crate & Barrel. I've found Crate & Barrel sofas to be comfortable and a good value. The client had children so the ultrasuede fabric was perfect since it's durable and washable. I hope this helps!

**Q: Side Tables - White Plastic?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I need tall side tables and these might work. It has been a few yeas and maybe you do not recall or if they are cheap, don't want to say. But, please, respond.

A: Hi! The side tables were from a great store called House Eclectic, which has since closed. If you do a google search for "Parsons Chubby Side Tables" you should find similar options and a really great resource for chic furniture is Made Goods (www.madegoods.com). I hope this helps!

**Q: Paint color** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the actual paint color??

A: Hi Hector! The paint color is Parma Gray (\#27) by Farrow & Ball. We loved the way it brought together all the elements of the nursery!

**Q: paint** *(in Photo Questions)*

hi, what paint color/brand was used? thanks

A: Hi Sheila! If you want to send me a picture of the area you refer to, that would be most helpful!
