> When we first decided to sell our house my thought of having to "show it" made me cringe. I knew I was going to have to get rid of some things because it was so cluttered. I also didn't want to have to "stage my home".
> Fast forward to Minol. What a great job Minol did of showing me how to downsize the furniture in my living room and bedrooms to show them off. I was kicking and screaming at the thought of changing things around because it was a lot to do, but our house sold with the first person to look at it. Now that we are moved and are looking for a new home I am amazed at how hard it is to really "see" the houses on the MLS through all of the owners "things". I get so frustrated that many times I pass up on a beautiful home because it is too hard to envision myself with all their things cluttering up the rooms. I am am forever grateful that Minol showed me how less is more. Thank you Minol!

> Minol has helped us redesign our living room, and consulted on paint colors and flooring throughout the house! Everything looks SO good, and was kept within our budget. We love all the furniture, rug and carpet options, and pillows she picked out, and we LOVE the colors she has picked for our walls. All of her advice has vastly improved our house feel and our happiness with our surroundings. Minol is such a pleasure to work with that we consider her a friend now, and continue to ask her advice on any home decor improvement we're considering. I don't know how she can visualize rooms and paint colors so well, much less flooring options, but she does a fabulous job - a special talent. Highly recommend!

> For my new house I engaged Minol to pick out the options at the design center and do the interiors. Minol was able to find synergies between my husband's modern choices and my traditional choices to create a transitional style that worked for us. She was flexible, knew exactly what she was recommending for us and stayed well within our budget. This was our first new construction and didn't know what to expect, Minol made it extremely easy for us because she could clearly visualize how the end product would be. Her expanse of knowledge and passion for her work shows in the excellence of the finished product that we call 'home'. Minol's work stands out in her ability to understand her client's need and provide recommendations that surpasses their expectations.

**★★★★★ — Susan Nathanson, Oct. 2017**

> Minol is awesome to work with! She helped me to find a new decor style that was updated, cohesive, comfortable, and satisfied my 25 year old daughter, as well as me. I had some quirky needs for functional spaces. She truly listened and integrated them beautifully. I learned to trust her instincts; trying some fabrics and furniture that I ended up loving! Her contractor did an excellent job. Minol followed thru to the very end, at a very reasonable price. I actually miss her now, but am so grateful for the "home" we created.

**★★★★★ — Sherin Shajudeen, Feb. 2017**

> Minol is amazing! She is very creative and has helped me "find my style." I appreciate her patience with my timeline. Highly recommend!

**★★★★ — ripublic, Dec. 2016**

> I had invited Minol over for a design consultation at my home. I had bought new furniture pieces and needed advice in tying the look in. I wanted to create a cohesive look and feel by buying/ staging art and accessories for each room. Our home has a mix of Indian/ ethnic style in some rooms and other themes in the kids bedrooms. Minol and I did a walk through of the home room by room discussing various options from staging the existing accessories that I had collected over the years to suggesting pieces and stores to shop at. She was prompt in offering her recommendations when I was out shopping and wanted run my purchases by her for her opinion as a part of the extended consultation. I really loved Minol's patience in understanding our needs about how the space should work for us. She brings a deep understanding of colors, textures, techniques and styles and a knowledge of what is out there to the table. This coupled with a calm and professional demeanor makes me want to recommend Minol to anyone looking for help with their interior decorating needs.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Who made the stylish couch?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am liking the couch design very very much. Who is the manufacturer?

A: Hi ! There are many sources for the sectional. Here's one from Houzz : \[White Leather Contemporary Sofa\[(https://www.houzz.com/products/selma-sectional-sofa-white-prvw-vr~53629149) .

**Q: love the chair, where can i purchase it?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Wellingtons rugged leather recliner
Diane at total.landscape@hotmail.com

A: Thanks !

**Q: Flooring entry, family room and kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have a patchwork of flooring in our two story house., including lots of laminate. We are beginning a kitchen remodel and want to take the opportunity to make the entry, short hall to family room, family room, short hall to garage, guest bath and kitchen all the same flooring - and possibly even a split staircase that goes down to second floor with all the bedrooms. We live in the family room, including two lively dogs (one small and one medium.) The laminate has been damaged in spots and just looks dated to me. It has been suggested that we go with engineered hardwood, but my style is not one of being okay with the 'natural' look of chips, dents, etc. I also worry about water damage in kitchen. My husband worries about tile being too cold, but I am beginning to think it is the only reasonable solution. I have heard about increased use of vinyl that looks like tile or wood - but wonder if that looks too commercial and maybe not as good for resale. Would appreciate any ideas, experiences, etc.

A: Engineered Hardwood is one the best for ROI when it comes to resale. They come in a variety of finishes even without dents & chips. With basic maintenance, they work great for kitchens too.
Check out some modern style options here : hardwood options.
For pics of Kitchen with hardwood floors :\[https://www.houzz.com/photos/wood-floor-tile-kitchen-phbr0lbl-bl~l\_43189\[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/wood-floor-tile-kitchen-phbr0lbl-bl~l\_43189)
As for bathroom floors, I have seen hardwood being used. If you are not comfortable with that , you can get tiles that look like wood planks ( to coordinate with the rest of the wood flooring ). Easily available at most home improvement stores.

**Q: Desperately need to choose bathroom color to go with Aqua tile?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My main floor bathroom has a total identity crisis. Due to it being a windowless bathroom we chose a light blue (almost aqua) crackle wall tile and floor tile is white marble basketweave tile. The original gray glass subway tile looked green and we changed it on a whim to the blue. Now the half wall (which Is way too wide and high) stands out and I think we should've done 1/8 grout lines since the tile looks too modern. Do I try to match the paint to the wall tile or do a completely different color? I had wanted to do wainscoting to break it up but thought it really would give it an identity crisis and accentuate the half (prison wall) even more?

A: I would suggest to choose something lighter than the tiles for the walls. Do not match it..especially since there is no natural light coming in.
Try Snowbound , Moderne White or Fluer de Sel from Sherwin Williams. It will complement the blue tiles really well.
Make sure to buy samples and paint a good 2 coat patch of 2'x2' on the wall and see how you feel about it before painting all the walls.

**Q: Dining room nook wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I, wonder what I can do with this wall to add some visual interest? This space is bordered by the kitchen and island to the right, sliding patio door to the left, and great room directly in front. All ideas are welcome!

A: A buffet / sideboard with with a minimalist approach in styling will suit the space in terms of scale. Few accents to add on top of it : A leaning framed art , a set of 3 candle holders , a small plant, a set of books maybe.

**Q: Where to stop the backsplash ?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Where should we stop the backsplash. Inline with the upper cabinets or should we carry it under the window? The countertop will overhang about 12" on the peninsula. I placed a board in the below picture so you can see where the countertop will end.

Thanks !

A: I would recommend bringing the tile all the way to the door trim... and continue it to the floor. Something like this :
