> I wish I could give 100 stars! Working with the team at Fine Design was a fantastic experience. Diane was our lead designer and the design suggestions she made were perfect for what we described as our goal. Fine Design turned a dud of a 1980's home into our dream vacation home. It is exquisitely beautiful without being stuffy and fits our lifestyle perfectly. From the layout to the colors to the fixtures to the extra touches, we couldn't ask for anything more. You will not regret partnering with Fine Design for your project!

**★★★★★ — Sandra, May 2017**

> Shirley and her team helped with the interior design and furnishings of our remodeled home on the Big Island of Hawaii where we wanted Hawaii modern mixed with items we had collected over the years. They were all extraordinarily creative, attentive and responsive. Our primary designer, Diane Bobeck listened to and enhanced in ways we never would have imagined the design we envisioned. The team stayed on budget and timing. A good friend referred Fine Design to us and we will be forever grateful for that. In the true sense, we cannot say enough good things about our experience with this fabulous company.

**Comment from Fine Design Interiors, Inc.:**

> Aloha Sandra,
> Diane and the entire team at Fine Design Interiors had a wonderful experience working on your project. We are so pleased that our passion and creativity enabled us to bring your vision to life. Mahalo for giving us the opportunity to work with you on your beautiful home!

> I really wanted to like this woman-owned local design firm - however I had to pull the plug on my lighting project after nine long months. I wanted to get a lighting solution for my kitchen/great room, replace the skylight with a state-of-the-art unit, and purchase and install new lights in my two baths, hallway and master bedroom. About six weren't adter the initial consult, the designer said she couldn't find the appropriate craftsmen. After four months, with my asking for updates on a bi-weekly basis, I got the first proposal -- which covered only about 30% of the scope of work. Fast forward another four months to receipt of the second proposal - and all the lighting components had increased in price by about 50%. at that point, I decided to discontinue working with Fine Designs. I found the designer assigned to me to be uncommunicative, forgetful, and disinterested. Very disappointing. Cannot recommend.

**Comment from Fine Design Interiors, Inc.:**

> We are so sorry that working with us did not meet your expectations and appreciate very much that you have taken the time to express your feelings about the process. We are always seeking to improve and have reflected upon your experience that you have shared here, in order for us to better serve our clients moving forward.
>
> Unfortunately, sometimes there are many factors that are simply beyond our control. We did our best to insulate you from the difficulties we were having meeting the needs of your project and apologize if this came off as uncommunicative. As you are aware from conversations with both Fine Design’s Designer and the electrical contractor, the age of your home and its existing wiring truly inhibited the ability for your lighting project to move forward.
>
> If you recall, you had selected a few beautiful lighting fixtures from lighting catalogs that you had, and after discussing with the electrical contractor we learned that your home’s current wiring would not accommodate these fixtures. As a result, the first proposal did not contain your full project scope but rather only the fixtures that were in stock on the Big Island and could be wired in your home. Although we suggested you move forward with these fixtures, you declined and decided to wait until the entire scope could be proposed. By the time additional fixtures suggested were approved by the electrical contractor to work in your home, and by you for pricing and a proposal, the original fixtures were no longer in stock on the island and are now considered custom-order from the vendors. In addition, the original vendor quotes had expired, and as you may recall us communicating to you, these factors caused the increase in cost on the proposal.
>
> Sadly, the Big Island has nowhere near enough contractors available for the volume of work. Although we diligently tried, it was simply impossible for us to find one that was willing to take on a small size project of a single skylight replacement.
>
> All of our designers are passionate about creating beautiful and comfortable environments that meet the needs and expectations of our clients. We sincerely apologize that we were simply unable to do this for you.

> Shirley Wagner and Diane Bobeck did a complete remodel for me on a condo unit in 2010, and Shirley continues to help me with my on going remodel of our home in Kona! They are both just delightful; professional, efficient, extremely talented, and fun designers to work with. I love how quickly they can help you resolve problems or answer questions, and come up with so many creative ideas. I also really appreciate the ease at which they allow you to research and handle certain parts of your project, yet they are always there to guide you, and support you with what ever you need. Shirley has suggested carpets that are beautiful and bullet proof, stunning hard wood floors, a pit sofa that just made our son's room, wallpapers, lamps, fabrics other furnishings that are amazing. She has also remodeled two bathrooms for us which are just gorgeous. I enjoy every meeting that we have together, as Shirley and her entire staff are truly a pleasure to work with.

> From 1998 to 2007, my husband and I worked with Shirley Wagner on four custom residential projects in Hawai'i. As a team, we designed, built, and completely furnished each one. There were thousands of decisions to make, and Shirley masterfully guided us through the entire process. She was always resourceful, creative, passionate, energetic, versatile, and a pleasure. As a result, it was a very positive and gratifying experience.

> This is our third project with Fine Design Interiors. We thought it would be a tough job for them to top with what they had already done for us in Hawaii and the remodel of our home on the mainland, but they took our mountain dream home from the foundation to the last piece of furniture placed, WOW!!!
>
> In our initial conversation with Shirley and Kiana, we told them that we wanted our home to blend in with the beauty of the surrounding mountains an that we wanted a look of "Rustic Elegance".
>
> Shirley and Kiana made 4 trips to Washington. They interviewed vendors over the phone, thus when they arrived the appointments were made and off we went. They were tireless in their pursuit in getting everything done and in meeting the contractor's deadlines.
>
> They were great in working with our Contractor and in answering any and all questions that the subcontractors had, distance did not make a difference! Again Shirley, Kiana and the rest of their support staff were the best!
>
> My husband and I see another project down the way and they will be our first call.

**★★★★★ — dadsgrotch, July 2015**

> Shirley has STUNNING talent! I found her charming and very easy to work with. I am all about color and Shirley went along with nearly all of my choices, allowing me the independence I like. She has great sources for materials and knows the islands and where to get just about anything. She also sources out of California and Colorado.
> I greatly enjoyed working with Shirley. I encourage anyone wanting a Hawaiian design to speak with Shirley at Fine Design Interiors.

**★★★★★ — rbakoway, June 2015**

> We could not have been happier with our design team who created a beautiful, functional and inviting vacation rental home for us. From supervising the extensive renovation work, to working with us and advising the best selections for paint colors, decor, furnishings, linens and dishes to communicating with us through the entire project from a long distance, we felt always that we were in good hands. This firm has vast resources to complete every aspect of the job, and our expectations were exceeded at every turn. Our thanks go to all the staff of Fine Design, and to Diane Bobeck our lead designer.

**★★★★★ — lmkorth, June 2015**

> Fine Deign Interiors has been an outstanding business to work with for the past 14 years! Shirley Wagner and her staff are professional, efficient, creative and very easy to work with. They helped to remodel and furnish our home on The Big Island and we loved everything they did. Since our initial project they have worked with us on several additions and changes to our home. Each time it has been a great experience. I highly recommend Fine Design Interiors and will continue to use them for any projects we have in the future.

**★★★★★ — pattie31, June 2015**

> Fine Design Interiors, Inc. operated and owned by Shirley Wagner is one of the finest design companies on the Kohala Coast. I manage and operate luxury vacation rentals in Hawaii and Shirley's team of professionals is the first call I make when my clients start a new project on their homes.
>
> Their professionalism and attention to details is what I have learned to count on. Their longevity in the islands as well as their many resources to get things accomplished in a timely manner are what is important to me. The Fine Design team has a high level of personal responsibility, are creative in meeting the desires and tastes of each client, and, they are fun to work with!

> We were fortunate to have Fine Design Interiors work with us and our architect when we built a home in Hawaii. We were very pleased with all aspects of the project: artistic taste, respect for our taste, thorough follow-through on orders, attention to our budget, complete inspection of all the elements and insistence on the quality and perfect condition of every single element. Shirley Wagner was a delight to work with and made this a very happy experience for us.

**★★★★★ — dradin77, April 2015**

> My husband and I have lived at the Mauna Kea Beach Resort for almost 25 years. We have known Shirley Wagner for most of that time. She is an extraordinary person and a wonderful decorator. Over the years she has worked with us so many times it would be hard to count them and we have always been totally satisfied with the results. She is tireless and creative but most importantly she listens so you end up living in a home that reflects you and your family. We are so happy with all we have done together on our last project.
> We recommend her to everyone we know and are always confident that they will be very happy with the end result.
