The only negative feedback I can offer about the material are the pegs on the interior of the cabinetry. We finally redid our kitchen around 18 months ago, although like many people we started the research process quite a while before that. I really have to say that the guys at Five Star were incredibly patient, helpful, and knowledgeable in helping us design a new kitchen. They operate with a very professional, no-pressure approach that really was quite admirable; it simply fit in with our personalities to a tee . When it came to us finally deciding to pull the trigger on the new kitchen, they were extremely helpful in planning and designing the kitchen, adjusting patiently to the various changes made as we went along. Five Star was a complete end-to-end package; they were able to help guide us with the various choices about brands, materials, cabinets, counter tops, faucets, cabinet handles, backsplashes etc. Over time it came together and then the help did not end there. Once we had the kitchen being installed by our contractor, there were a few inevitable glitches along the way and Five Star helped us work through those as well with the contractor. > It really should be mentioned that the customer support did not end with the installation with the cabinets. When we noticed some issues with a couple of cabinets after installation, Five Star went back to the manufacturer and made sure those issues were suitably corrected. I actually think this was the highlight of our experience with Five Star; I have heard from many friends who have said that after sale of cabinets, the seller could be nowhere to be found if issues or problems arose. People were extremely impressed when we told them of the after-care these guys provided to make sure the customer was extremely satisfied with what was obviously a large purchase. I feel their customer service truly deserves a shout-out! Bruce at Five Star came highly recommended to us by a family member who had worked with him previously on their kitchen renovation and raved about him...and they couldn't have been more right. We sat down with Bruce for an initial meeting that lasted over 2-hours, and then subsequently met with him weekly over the next several weeks to work out all of the design details, accessories and decisions. Bruce is a kitchen guru with a great sense of design, a keen eye for detail, and a true passion for what he does. He recommended the contractor we ultimately chose (who did a fantastic job!), he recommended the appliance store we used (who were extremely helpful), he laid out kitchen designs for us on CAD, went through all of the different colors and finish options, cabinet styles, cabinet construction, hardware styles, countertop options, etc. He was meticulous, organized, extremely patient, caring, helpful and pleasant to deal with throughout the entire process, and he really became our kitchen "counselor" as we were able to bounce anything off of him and get his expert opinion, from hardware finishes, to tile patterns, lighting layout, etc. When we met with Bruce, he always gave us his full attention, and seemed deeply invested in ensuring we would be happy with the quality and end result of our project....which we were! My wife and I are extremely happy with the way our kitchen turned out, and we still find ourselves standing and admiring how beautiful it looks. Help!** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are building a home and our contractor suggested hardwoods for the kitchen. I love the look, and with an open floor-plan it would look amazing. My concern lies in the durability of the floor if things (bowls, jars, etc.) are dropped on it. Would tile be the smarter choice for longevity? Or does hardwood flooring seem durable in this part of the house? Also, what do you guys put under your barstools at the kitchen island to prevent them from scraping the hardwood? We have a toddler and this is my other concern. Thanks in advance!! A: There is always a questinon of durability, but if you think about it, nothing stays the same after MANY years of use. Tile can crack too, so can concrete. Hard wood floors can fade with time and get scratched, etc. I think it comes down to style and what you are willing to live with and maintain. Some don't like concrete floors however, they are poured in one session and leveled, can be stained however you please, etc. You can install heated floors too if you're worried about cold but concrete is great because it will help you maintain the same floor style all throughout any given area, which keeps thing looking collective and expansive. Tile has it's differences, so does hardward floors, which I always found to be very classy and elegent. I would focus on YOUR style and what YOU find more pleasing to the eyes and suitable to your budget. Know what you will need to do to maintain it and do your best to be careful in the kitchen. Even the most wonderful of products can break when people are careless. Just be mindful :) **Q: need to freshen up kitchen and dining room** *(in Design Dilemma)* Golden oak cabinets and dining room furniture. Would love to change it but that's not possible. Need color ideas to punch it up! A: If you are unable to replace and renovate why don't you take a chance and paint your cabinets?
