> I had just bought a new home with the intention of remodeling the existing kitchen before settling in. I was referred to Mark through a family member that had previously worked with him before. I called him, and he came out to meet me the next day. After roughly describing what I had in mind, he quickly gave me a rough estimate and gave me helpful suggestions on how to reduce costs without sacrificing a great deal of quality. My first thought was “this guy looks pretty young….” turns out, he’s much older than he looks. He was very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He never once made me feel pressured to buy or sign anything with him.
> When I had decided to go through with the work, we started the design process and I came out to his warehouse/showroom to pick out materials and finalize certain details. It was quite a frustrating process….only because the “wife” was involved. We would spend many long hours coming up with awesome designs only to be told that the “Feng Shi” or whatever was not right. Mark was very patient and helpful throughout the entire design process and definitely worked within my budget.
> Once we finalized the plans, work started immediately. I was mostly away at my day job during this time but I was always able to contact the project manager for updates. They worked very diligently whenever I popped in to look around and finished the project on time as planned. They even worked weekends to make up for the fact that my cabinets were delayed a week from back order.
> There are plenty of contractors out there and I probably would have saved a few thousand dollars by going with one of them, but you can’t put a price on piece of mind. I didn’t mind paying a bit more knowing that my contractor was bonded and licensed and stood by his work 100%. Mark personally inspected everything before we finalized the work. I will definitely use him again when I’m ready to add an addition to my house. Only this time…..I’ll be sending my wife far away until we’re done.

> I'm a residential architect and have worked with Mark and Capital Area Construction on multiple projects, spanning the past several years. Mark has brought attention to detail, good value and customer focus to every project collaboration. I recommend him without hesitation.

> I thought Mark, Erin, and the entire team at Capital Area Construction did an excellent job with the reconstruction of our bathroom. We have had a lot of problems with this bathroom and it looks like the majority of the work is now finished thanks to CAC.
>
> We had the issue of leaks occurring (now we know from the shower caulking) that caused the wooden floors in our bathroom to get moldy. CAC built us a concrete floor, reinstalled the toilet, installed a new vanity, put up a new mirror, as well as tiled the ceiling of our shower. They also put down a new marmoleum floor that we had gotten from a DIY store. The workers even got concerned and called me when they couldn't find my dog in the house (the dogwalker had come and gotten him) but I still appreciated the phone call. The Marmoleum floor tiles had begun to pop up eventually and Mark was nice enough to order some more tiles and have his team come reinstall them at no cost to us. Mark also was kind enough to offer suggestions and didn't cause any problems when we went in a different direction. Overall I thought Capital Area Construction did an excellent job and I would like to be able to hire them again for other house projects down the road.

> Total kitchen modernization. Also had back porch enclosed. Contractor did great job. Craftmanship and attention to detail helped make this project a success. Contractor was creative and offered reasonable suggestions to as challenges arose. Would recommend contractor for any major project.

> Capital Area Construction completed a basement renovation project for me during late summer of 2011. Additionally, they created a second laundry room on the 1st floor.
>
> Through initial consultation, design work, contract negotiation, tear-out, re-build, finish work, and warranty work, Capital Area Construction management, project managers, tradesmen, and crew were professional and very competent. Attention to detail during execution contributed to an outstanding finished product, as well as an ongoing partnership between the onsite team and me, the homeowner, during the entire project.
>
> The project was started and completed on schedule, within budget, with very few touch-ups needed after completion. Warranty work at the end of the first year was handled promptly.
>
> It was a pleasure to work with Capital Area Construction. I have used them since for carpentry work and hope to work with them again for my next home renovation project.

> Capital Area Construction is one of the best firms I've ever dealt with. They are very knowledgeable and competent. I highly recommend them.

> Mark and his crew did a great job, they came in on budget and largely on time. They kept a clean work site and were very professional.

> In dealing with Mark for the past few years as one of his many product supplier, I can tell you that he values his workmanship, his clients and quality products. I have seen his jobs as they start, during and after completion and I have recommended Capital Area Construction to a friend of mine who is excited to get the work started.

> Mark and his team helped dig-out and completely gut renovate my basement. A really large job that required several months and lots of planning. Capital Area Construction helped us design the basement, dig-out 7" of dirt and foundation, supervised the entire permitting process, purchased materials and executed the plan. There were a couple hiccups and delays due to permits and materials, which is why it's not a five star review, but Mark was very honest about the hang-ups and forthright with the cost increases caused by those delays. All of his on-site supervisors and workers were very friendly and knowledgeable and were cognizant of the fact that I had a newborn so they took extra precautions to keep the dust, dirt, and debris from spreading throughout the rest of the house.
>
> All in all, my wife and I love our basement and feel like it's already paid us back on our house value. I recommend Capital Area Construction for your large renovation needs.

**★★★★★ — Jessie Evans, July 2013**

> While I ultimately did not contract with Capitol Area Construction for my general home repair/renovation projects due to price, I was impressed with Mark’s professionalism and the detail provided in his estimate. It is also clear that Mark and his team have a great design eye, unlike the less expensive contractor I went with. Due to their exceptional professionalism and attention to detail, I will consider Capitol Area Construction again when I have a bigger budget and want to remodel my kitchen!

**★★★★★ — capitolhillhouse, July 2013**

> Capital Area Construction renovated my 2100 sf house. The renovation gutted the entire house to the roof beam and floors. All the walls were removed. The build back included all architectural, mechanical and electrical installation. The basement floor was lowered to provide proper head room in the basement. Everything was brought up to new code standards. The contractor was extremely conscientious about the quality of work and continuously updated us on the progress. He provided design support and suggested the best option to complete the project. The project was completed on schedule and on budget. I would hire the contractor again.

**★★★★ — User, July 2013**

> Capital Area Construction was helpful to meet the needs and goals for my first house. The owner of the company worked with me in coaching me throughout construction process. He also helped me to find affordable and suitable subcontractors for my financial situation. Given my situation, he donated much of his time which I am forever grateful for. I would highly recommend going with Capital Area Construction for your future needs and improvements.

The cabinets are lacquered with “Dove Wing”, a slightly off-white shade from Benjamin Moore so as not to be too sterile.
