After the first meeting with the designer, I was very hopeful that it would be a great experience. The designs were great and the outlook seemed positive. The experience started to unravel after being told on more than one occasion that the designer would be off for a month or so delaying the progress. After the return of the designer, it was apparent that she was inexperienced and needed insight from the customers (but very pleasant). In addition to this issue, I was over billed and had to stop a large unauthorized debit from being withdrawn from my bank account. Unfortunately, the company was found to be unprofessional (poor customer service (with interactions with the owner), scheduled appointments that ended up as no-calls, no show). > > Please do your research before choosing an interior designer. **★★★★★ — K, May 2021** > We have worked with Katie Heinz on several projects from design layout to interior design to paint colors and flooring. It has been a pleasure working with you! **★ — HU-75100793, March 2021** > I had Amy Douglas out to my home after I had signed a faxed in contract with a deposit of $1,200. She told me about her great history and credentials and most importantly, I felt, the team she worked for. I had an event that I needed freshening my home up for. She assured me it would be done. She was in and out of my home several times with samples that were pretty. After she left I would look at the samples and see that they did not flow with what I had in other areas of the house. What she was bringing was making me feel everything needed to be updated. I had a event coming up and she did not meet my objective. Instead she quit the job and told me to move on. When I asked her for part of my deposit back and the name of a cabinet maker she had given me a drawing from for one of my rooms, she told me he only worked through her and would not give his name nor would she give me any part of my deposit back. I should just move on. I told Amy Douglas how disappointed I was and said if she wasn’t able to help me why didn’t she include her team? I had to go through my credit card company to work on getting my deposit back. Amy was not able to work with a home that wasn’t brand new to freshen it up. If you recall we did present many different designs and options to complete this in a timely manner. This included going shopping with you for stock furniture that was on the floor at different retailers to try and meet your deadline. You actually were not billed for many additional hours of time that was spent working on your home and your design along with going back and forth with numerous redesigns. Unfortunately due to the circumstances out of our control with incisiveness we could never seem to finalize a decision. As stated on the scope of work that you signed all the completed design time that was put into the project was non-refundable. Clearly we were not a good match and wanted the best for you and your home so it was offered that you should find another designer to work with. We always try to do the best by our clients but sometimes it does not work out. I struggle with paint colors - going from paint samples to the wall - and Amy is very adept at color and creates a wonderful flow from room to room. Her fabric choices are fresh and creative and brings a beautiful and timeless addition to any room. She has helped me organize shelves with my own favorite items and has added some great pieces of her own. Amy finishes her projects in a timely way and is able to work with contractors in a very professional manner. Her staff is wonderful and have always been able to respond to my questions in a prompt and friendly way. She listened to me, absorbed my likes & dislikes, and intuitively chose colors, designs, furnishings, wallpaper, fabrics that I absolutely loved. When costs appeared to be too high for my budget she found alternatives that were just as good, if not better. Never did I feel that she was pushing her ideas on to me...it was truly a collaborative experience. We didn't change the footprint of my kitchen or replace the cabinets, just refinished with new doors (from dark wood to a soft antiqued yellow) and built a custom pantry area to match the cabinets. In my family room, we removed the 1970's dark panelling and painted the walls a pale fern green. I had artwork and antique furniture to work around and Katie found fabrics that enhanced them. We replaced the flooring in the foyer and kitchen and carpet in the family room, carpet on the hall stairs, and re-wallpapered the foyer and powder room. Everything flowed together really well. Midway through the project, I decided to go with exposed wood on my stairs and upstairs hall...that delayed the project a bit because the price came in so high. Katie found a company that could do the work for less and it turned out great. She then found the perfect runner for the stairs. I would recommend Interior Design wholeheartedly.
