**★★★★★ — mequick, Sept. 2016**

> Quite simply, the Best! I've had a lot of window treatments in my 70 years, and the recent ones done by Julie Thome Draperies are, hands down, the best constructed, the best proportioned and the classiest. If you want a real pro, call Julie!

**★★★★★ — SMCP USA Inc. – SANDRO/MAJE/Claudie Pierlot, Aug. 2016**

> Julie Thome Draperies is absolute perfection!
>
> Our company received quotes from 30+ vendors for custom fitting room curtains for the Sandro and Maje stores, and not only was Julie by far the most professional, her prices can not be beat.
>
> Julie was a joy to work with, paid great attention to detail, and made sure that every aspect of the fabrication was tailored to our exact needs.
>
> She was able to order fabric directly from the manufacturer in Denmark, and she was even able to provide hardware to match our designs.
>
> We received the curtains in under a week, and they were stunning!
>
> Other vendors said the job was impossible to complete on time, or gave us unreasonably high quotes, but Julie took on the challenge and delivered beyond our expectations!
>
>
> Our curtains in the past were made custom in France, but we will now be using Julie for all future store openings!
>
>
> Whether for commercial or residential purposes, Julie will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want!

**Comment from Julie Thome Draperies, Inc.:**

**★★★★★ — McBrien Interiors, Allied ASID, Dec. 2015**

> I have had the pleasure of working with Julie on a few projects. The quality of her draperies and pillows is beautiful. Julie is very professional, timely and a great resource for custom work. I recommend her highly.

**★★★★★ — Keri McKay Interiors LLC, May 2015**

> Julie has done two window treatment projects for me so far and both came out beautiful! I was really impressed by her attention to detail, timelines, and professionalism. She is easy to work with, offers advice, and her quality of work is top-notch. I will continue to use Julie for all my drapery needs and highly recommend her.

**★★★★★ — Blank Canvas Interiors, Sept. 2013**

> Julie's attention to detail is impressive, albeit a requirement for what she does! She created ripple fold draperies for me (a treatment that I had not specified previously) and was extremely helpful in describing the process and mechanisms to me. She ensured that all the necessary steps and precautions were taken due to the unyielding nature of this type of window treatment. I relish the opportunity to work with her again!

**★★★★★ — Shades IN Place, Feb. 2013**

> Julie and I never met. However we are both members of WCAA – Window Coverings Association of America. Two years ago, Julie contacted me to install some drapes for her client on the Cape Cod. By talking to her on the phone and exchanging emails I realized that she KNEW about her trade. Once I received the treatments to be installed, I could confirm her QUALITY sewing skills. I was so confident about her workmanship that a year later, a designer based in Florida – which I had done work for in Boston – called me asking if I was interested in a job near CT. It was a little too far for me, but without hesitation I’ve refer Julie Thome Draperies, Inc. for the project. Four months later, Julie sent me a “Thank You” check for $500 as an appreciation for the referral. I never asked or requested any kick back from Julie, but her gesture just demonstrated how well that project went. THANK YOU Julie for making me looking good in front of my client!

> Julie is amazing! I have used her for many projects over the last 8 years and she has always exceeded my expectations. Not only does she have endless resources for fabric, trim and hardware, Julie has a great eye and I trust her opinion. I have recommended her to many people and they always come back with nothing but compliments.

**★★★★★ — michaelwhaley, Oct. 2012**

> Julie has made numerous pillows for my clients, and the quality is always excellent. She is very detail oriented and happy to make minor adjustments if necessary. I have not used her for draperies, but I have seen the finished product in her workshop, and I can tell they are very well made, stiched by hand - all done in the time honored way.

**★★★★★ — earlnemser, Oct. 2012**

> It was a pleasure to work with Julie. Julie not only made my beautiful drapes, but she guided my decorator with respect to fabric, trimming and hardware choices as well as the design of the drapes. The project worked very well--the product and fittings are perfect and it was delivered on a timely basis.
>
> I think Julie's price structure is very fair. My drapes were expensive because of the fabric I selected.
>
> I would definately use Julie again and I do recommend her to my friends.
>
> I love my drapes!!!

**★★★★★ — drakich, Sept. 2012**

> We feel very fortunate to have had Julie Thome complete three separate, custom window treatment projects, as well as one set of seat cushions over the last five years. The quality of her workmanship, ability to work and complete custom orders within a budget, her knowledge and expertise are all evident in the wide range of projects she has worked on. I was most impressed with the time and care she put into our master bedroom window treatments, which were no small task. They turned out absolutely gorgeous, and I am able to provide photographs, if needed. Her experience and professionalism were most evident when we searched for suitable fabrics to fulfill certain criterion, in a room where the wall color, rugs, furniture and bedding were already established. Also very much appreciated, Julie referred me to an outstanding local upholsterer (John Paul Schriever) who refurbished a favorite sofa. I look forward to working with Julie again, and would highly recommend her for future projects.

**★★★★★ — JMittman Designs, Sept. 2012**

> Julie Thome runs a top notch workroom. She is always willing to lend her talents to her colleagues, and has proven a mentor to me in several instances. I have consulted with Julie several times with regard to jobs in my own workroom, and each time Julie's advice was dead on.
>
> I would recommend Julie to any designer who needs a workroom who knows how to handle exquisite fabrics, create professional treatments, tackle detail, and has respect for those who hire her.
>
> Julie is one talented lady!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Advice-dual dining room/kitchen** *(in Home Decorating)*

I need advice on window treatment for this room and how to dress the room up to make what used to be a kitchen table look more like a dining room table. I love the table. Any tips to refinish it darker? Maybe new chairs? Note:We do not have a dining room or an eat in kitchen. So it would be a dual purpose room. (kids are older so that isn't a factor)

A: If your goal is simply to dress up the room I would do a 2 with drapery panel either side of the window, printed fabric is very popular again now.

**Q: Help with shades/blinds please!** *(in Windows)*

I am in blinds hell. I’ve had a few companies come out and give me estimates, but I can’t decide what type of shades/blinds to do.

I’d like to have cordless, that much I know.
Our style is transitional/ish..?
Also, I want to have light-blocking for the upstairs rooms. Thinking Roman shades with white liner?

Thank you!

A: Your windows have nice proportions and you have plenty fo room to inside mount roman shades. You can do them in blackout or light filtering. Patterned fabric is making a big comeback, so go ahead and inject some color into the rooms.

**Q: I’m looking for drapery advice.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I’ve sent for samples of cream and white buffalo silk plaid fabric, not sure where to hang panels from, inside bay at ceiling or on outside of bay? Also, I was thinking just 4 panels on either end of windows? Just 1 width of fabric? What type of top treatment? Thank you!

A: Go for at the minimum 1 1/2 width panels each side and interline and line to improve the hang of the fabric.

**Q: Living Room Update Ideas?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I've been trying to update my living room for the past few months (not over the holidays). I bought new furniture, white and gray, I painted the walls from beige to gray with and smoky blue around the windows, and I'm trying to accent in cobalt/navy blues. The room doesn't look finished to me. I would love to get some ideas and suggestions. Excuse the pups on their perch!

A: I think you definitely needs drapes to give it a finished look. White linen would look lovely.

**Q: What to do for curtains?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have got this far with decorating my living room but I’m unsure where to go with curtains. Any thought?

A: Drapery panels to add some vertical lines to the space, and for the addition of fabric to all those other hard surfaces.

**Q: Window treatment help- save my living room!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Just put up these gorgeous window curtains, but it looks overwhelming and I don't know what to do! How do you recommend I arrange the curtains to make it look beautiful and not too busy?

A: How many windows are there? Hard to see whats going on under all that you have there? one thing I do notice is rods are mounted too low down.
