Within a week Liz had helped us redesign several areas we were unhappy with and we loved the new design. She was there the entire city approval process and helped us get building permits super quick. Her expertise is unmatched and we couldn’t have been happier working with her. Her responsiveness and professionalism and architectural knowledge and skill is just off the charts. We worked with her through MJCI, Inc. on a complete renovation of a 3-bedroom condo in DC. We had completed previous renovations, so we mostly knew what we wanted. Liz is technically sophisticated, and we trusted and learned from her many architectural drawings, which we kept coming back to throughout the project (the electrical drawings alone were a wonder to behold). In 2008 Liz sat down with us to design a renovation of our beloved 2 bedroom (+finished attic) Cape Cod. Our boys were growing up and we needed more space. We chose Liz because she understood our own Not So Big House sensibility of using rooms in multi-purpose ways and she was willing to design within the current footprint of our small corner lot. She recognized our desire to maintain our screened-in porch but to make it a year-round part of the house. She bumped the design only slightly to add a beautiful side entrance with a small mudroom entry. Above the porch, she designed a “homework room” with a vaulted ceiling and skylights as well as windows on three sides. She heard our musings when she designed a wonderful walk-through closet that allowed the boys to have their own rooms, but still enjoy their connection of a shared bedroom. > > Liz walked us through the county permitting process for the minor variance we needed and we began searching for our contractor. That was when the economy crashed and we couldn’t complete the project. > > 10 years later (2017) college tuitions were mostly paid and we were ready to create our dream house. Liz worked with our contractor, Sean Moran @ Atlas Moran, to flip the location of the kitchen and re-design parts of our first floor. We sat together and worked out a floor plan that was exactly what we were looking for, but didn't quite know how to accomplish. We didn't have the cash to undertake the renovation at that time, but we called her back 10 years later (yes, really!) to help us make this project a reality. She worked very hard to find an excellent builder, and also hired a structural engineer who was needed to sign off on the plans. We are THRILLED with the results. It feels like we have a band new home.
