If you are looking for a true expert to guide your shutter purchase, Darrell is the best! Darrell has been working in the shutter industry since 1992. As a designer and craftsman of custom shutters for more than 20 years, there is no project beyond his expertise. "I was never interested in becoming the biggest shutter company, just the best that I possibly could be. My philosophy is to educate each client and never try to 'sell' anyone my products. My clients can tell you, there are very distinct differences between the companies within this industry. That's why I still meet personally with so many of my clients to this day."

With a BFA in design, Tiffany brings more than 20 years of experience in design to Elite clients. Her gentle and warm personality puts our clients at ease and her professional design capabilities supports our clients in creating the perfect fit for their home. "I love working with my clients to  help them to create the right atmosphere for their home. My philosophy is to listen first, then offer what my clients need, not what I want to 'sell'. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Other design options** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love these and am considering something similar for privacy and for blocking the sun on a porch we are currently building.  I'm wondering if it's possible to get something like this but fixed/stationary (so it doesn't open from the bottom like these), and have them open and close like interior plantation shutters (from a center vertical bar)?

**Q: Shutter Warranty** *(in Photo Questions)*

What are the shutters made of?  Are the wood, composite, etc? Do they come with a warranty?

A: Good Morning. We offer Bahama Shutters in 2 material choices, Western Red Cedar and Fiber Glass. Both offer Limited a Life-time Warranty. The wood choice warranty is structural and 5 years on the finish. It is finished with an industrial grade paint with custom color choices. The wood has to be repainted about every 5 years. The Fiberglass is life-time on the finish and the structure. It is finished with a marine varnish that is oven-cured to the fiberglass. The fiberglass never has to be repainted. There are stock colors available and custom colors are available with an up-charge. Both are beautiful and highly durable. **Q: Please help!!! Stumped for ideas on how to update this disaster !!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Sorry pics are not great due to the huge maple ..... Just waiting for it to be trimmed.... Will post more pics then
need new door new step and some kind of roof cover over the step and any other ideas would be great

A: I think the portico and the walkway would do a great deal to add charm to this home. I agree with ACM, I don't think it's quite a disaster. Definitely a doable facelift. For not a lot of money you could also add exterior shutters on the front windows. I wouldn't recommend going with vinyl. They look cheep and don't hold up. You don't have a lot of windows so it would be fairly economical to put them up. Raised Panel or Framed Board and Batten would look really nice on this style house with some nice shutter dogs and hinges. If you go with one of these styles you can use a good composite instead of wood for lower cost durable option. You can introduce another color with the shutters,  use the trim color or go with a nice black. Also color on the front door can pop to if you go through the addition of a portico. Do you have the name of the company and paint color for the trim molding and cabinets.

A: The paint is Sherwin Williams - Extra White in their Pro Classic line.

**Q: What is the width of the louver?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Our standard louver size on Bahama Shutters is 1 5/8 inches but they are also available in 2 in, 2 1/2 inch and 3 1/2 inch sizes. Thanks for your question.
