**Q: yes or no to chair rail and crown molding in open floor plan??** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Photos of dining room area that opens into living room and kitchen. Can’t decide if it will look nice to keep chair rail throughout dining room and foyer. Current crown molding is beautiful but too wide for built in section of dining room so should I just scrape all crown molding and if I do, forget about the chair rail.

A: This isn’t the two piece I spoke of but it shows you some small vaulting.

**Q: Mixing door hardware finishes** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello,

I am in the process of building a house. We had planned on black levers/knobs and hinges, but today we went over there and the finish carpenter had put all brushed nickel hinges on all the doors without asking what our preference was. It’s obviously our fault for not telling our builder what we wanted in advance, but they have been great about asking our preference on things until now. 

We have an extremely tight timeline for moving in since my daughter starts school in a month, so having them change all the hinges out at this point just isn’t an option. 

Would it look ok to have black door levers with the nickel hinges, or should I go with the nickel levers to keep it all cohesive? Google images is failing me in this particular search! Thanks!

A: Switching out the hinges on an entire large house takes no more than 6 hrs, surely your timeline isn’t that close. There also isn’t a great skill level needed to do it if you use the same brand.

**Q: Doors and trim before and after** *(in Before & After)*

I did not like my flat yellow boring doors on the second floor. Replacing all 6 doors at once would cost me about $600, but I am not ready to buy them yet.
instead, I nailed down a trim on each door and painted them dark color. all materials and paint cost me about $75.
now I can live with these doors as long as i need, until I am ready to replace them with solid wood doors.
Also, installed new trim.

A: Incredible to find a person so lacking in common sense and social skills that he doesn’t even know he’s being not only mean but is an idiot to boot. In fact I think Norman Bates may have had better social skills. I can only surmise that just as a man with a small penis craves a big car Tony’s obsession with solid doors might have its beginnings in either an ED problem or a sound proofing from mother problem. In reality I doubt anyone would ever want to get close enough to him to check out these theories. I sure hope you and your more than special doors have a very happy life together Tony.

**Q: Crown Molding dilemma ....need advice** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Bummer....We decided to put 4.5" crown molding in our master 
bedroom but just realized that our vent is only 3" from the ceiling. Do we stop when it gets to the vent then resume past the vent? , do we choose a 3" molding through out?  or forget putting up any crown molding all together ? Our ceilings are 8' high. Thank you.

A: Those notches and bump outs look about as terrible as I’ve seen anything look. Ms. Wheeler nailed it, to me it looks like a group of children decided to build a house and this is what happened.

I have a power drill with brushless,I don't often use it.but I found some promblem when I recently used it.
I have to open the cleaning and oiling.

the quality of  power drill is very good,to guard against dust,or you will clean it.  
So What attention when assembling power tools?

A: I've learned that taking things apart is a whole lot easier than putting them back together.
