- Description: This was a great opportunity for me to landscape an Eichler home, which I have always wanted to do. Eichlers bring the outside in through window use and atriums. Now this garden brings the inside out through use of a shower, sitting area, fire feature, hot tub, waterfall, and an LED outdoor lighting system.

## Community Q&A

**Q: The fence--is it really purple? Or does it just appear that way?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I would call it an eggplant which compliments the house color.

**Q: Plant ID?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the tall shrub in the left border - almost to the top of the fence?

A: This is podocarpus gracilior, fast growing evergreen hedge that is very good for privacy

**Q: bistro set** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the adorable bistro set! Could you tell me where you purchased? Thanks.

A: The bistro chairs are from Ikea and I had the table

**Q: Stabilizing Pea Gravel?** *(in Landscape Design)*

I have a large backyard, with 150+' x 5' wide pea gravel walkways.

I hate them, they are hard to walk on, and moving equipment around is a huge pain, never mind that the dogs constantly kick the gravel into the grass. The gravel in some places is as much as 4" thick, so removing it is really the last thing I want to do. (The previous owners thought a pea gravel front yard would be nice as well - so I already have that on my plate to remove).

I was wondering if anyone has tried to stabilize pea gravel using concrete sand, DG, or other material and tamping? Thanks in advance.

A: Add in DG which will work its ways down. Ideally a pea gravel patio should have 3" base rock and 1" actual pea gravel.
