**★★ — HU-406238948, Dec. 2020**

> Beautiful design and work but extremely challenging to work with. Huge ego and difficulty incorporating client suggestions and feedback. “His way or the highway.” Outrageously expensive. If you have any kind of budget don’t bother.

**★★★★★ — Kitty Rogers, March 2016**

> I can't say enough great things about Patrick Ahearn and his team. Extraordinarily talented. Amazing vision. Super caring. Thoughtful design and detail. Incredibly responsive. Creativity extraordinaire!! My project was a complete renovation of an old and outdated Victorian mansard and my challenge to Patrick was to "save it" - bring it back to its former glory as a grand seaside manor but for today's lifestlye. Patrick and his team far exceeded my expectations. Through thoughtful and unique vision and re-design, the house was transformed into, as one realtor put it, "one of the most beautiful homes on the South Shore." Patrick and his team created a feeling of "gracious casual", with an open floor plan, tons of french doors and multi-paned windows, and classic Patrick Ahearn details of beadboard ceilings and custom built-ins. He fashioned the home as the heart of indoor/outdoor living and entertaining with clever use of Victorian elements such as the expansive wrap-around decks and entertaining kitchen and space in the Tower and adjacent deck. Bottom line - an amazing job by amazing architects! They are true professionals and a pleasure to work with!

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for your wonderful review! I am delighted to hear that we exceeded your expectations. We enjoyed working with you as much as you enjoyed working with us!

**★★★★★ — tom\_folliard, March 2016**

> We had the pleasure of working with Patrick and his team on an extensive renovation of an old home. From start to finish Patrick and his team were true professionals who payed attention to every detail, from initial design through permitting and construction management. But most importantly, we ended up with a house we truly love and it wouldn't have been possible without Patrick.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for your review, Tom! We truly appreciated your business and your trust in us throughout the process. Your newly restored home is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood.

**★★★★★ — twelo, March 2016**

> Patrick is simply a visionary who can nearly instantly transform your goals into the perfect vision. He carefully balances what you think you want with what he feels will be represent the land, home and vision of the owner. His patience and humor make the journey almost as delightful as the end product.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for your kind words! We truly appreciate it when clients take time out of their busy days to provide us with some open and honest feedback about our work and their experience. We enjoyed working with you as much as you enjoyed working with us. We hope your home has provided plentiful smiles and delights that develop into cherished memories for years to come.

**★★★★★ — larryharrissr, March 2016**

> Patrick designed , oversaw and approved progress payments for the construction of a house in Katama, MV that my wife and I had built in 2014-15. He did an excellent job in designing and overseeing the construction of our beautiful home. The detailed requirements ( especially the exterior and interior woodworking) that he specified in both our home and the carriage house are remarkable. My wife refers to the house as " a dream come through ". We have been coming to MV for 20 years, rented houses in Katama and stayed in Inns up island and in Edgartown for all of those years. We are now "residents" ( part time) and have a beautiful home there to come to as time allows. It that has all of the creature comforts that a family would want and is also remarkable in its " curb appeal". THANKS Patrick, your staff and contractors.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for taking the time to review us! It brings me a lot of pride and joy to hear that you refer to your home as "a dream come through." It truly was a pleasure working with you. Call us if there is anything we can help you with.

**★★★★★ — Cristina Pieretti, March 2016**

> Patrick was the architect of our house in Brookline. We can say nothing less than extraordinary. He perfectly interpreted our desires. Was very diligent in the various refinements that led to the final architectural project in an incredibly short time. Finally, but extremely important for us, was Patrick's consistent support during the construction period.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for your review and sharing photos! I'm happy that you enjoyed your experience. We do take pride in catering to our clients' needs the best way we can. It truly was a pleasure working with you and we hope your home has provided plentiful smiles and delights that develop into cherished memories for years to come!

**★★★★★ — HU-718248, March 2016**

> Patrick and team were architects for a complete renovation of our home in 2013/14. It is an historic and unique beautiful home but in tough shape inside and out. We needed an architectural firm that could design additions and alterations keeping the aesthetic of the original house. They did a fantastic job. Worth every penny. They listened but also weren't afraid to put their foot down. Patrick is the best residential architect in America.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Wow! What a wonderful review! It's definitely a boost for us every time we hear positive reviews such as this. We take pride in our ability to preserve a historic home's structure, maintain its integrity, and enhance the interiors with modern amenities. Thank you again, it truly was a pleasure working with you.

**★★★★★ — capemarket, March 2016**

> Patrick is more than an architect. His plans are a work of art. As a developer, I have built a couple of Patrick Ahearn's gambrels in Katama, a well-known Cape that told a story, and a complicated downtown historic Edgartown Greek Revival.
>
> He is a master of interior and exterior size and scale, with each room giving a feel of comfort and home. I appreciate, admire and enjoy Ahearn projects sprinkled throughout Edgartown. His projects stand head and shoulders above all others because of his extensive experience and attention to detail. Patrick's plans often call for brick or stone foundations, perfectly proportional rise and run of the gambrels, Pella architectural windows with historic windowsills, Atlantic Shutters, Nantucket beadboard, his unique use of crown molding and wall paneling. I LOVE it all and appreciate Patrick's skills as a master of architecture.
>
> When Patrick is presented with a challenging downtown plot plan, a Katama height restriction, or building privacy into a home, his experience makes the correct answers look easy.
>
> Developers, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers respect Patrick Ahearn and their work reflects their admiration. Most importantly, Patrick is an honest, hard working, experienced, fair and knowledgeable man.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Wow! What a wonderful review, and truly flattering coming from a well-respected colleague. We truly enjoy working with you and appreciate your dedication, attention to detail, and trust when transforming our drawings into reality. Thank you again, I truly appreciate your kind words.

**★★★★★ — frederick4, March 2016**

> Our experience working with Patrick Ahearn and his office was fantastic! We were asked for our wishes, given clear expectations, they hired excellent quality craftsmen, finished the project in a timely manner, and we have been thrilled living in the space ever since! We appreciated his professionalism, taste, and enjoyed his personality! We highly recommend them!

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for your kind review! I am very pleased to hear that you are enjoying your home. We enjoyed working with you as much as you enjoyed working with us. Thank you again, call us if there is anything we can help you with.

**★★★★★ — ekelund\_1, Aug. 2014**

> The great creative force in New England. Followed his work for nearly ten years - impressed. Look up their work on their homepage.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you ekelund\_1! We are constantly updating our website with new homes and news. Our newest addition is Chatham Gambrel located in Chatham, MA.

**★★★★★ — Colonial Reproductions, Inc., March 2014**

> Our company, Colonial Reproductions, Inc. has been privileged to work with Patrick on many projects for almost 20 years. PA's eye for detail and his ability to tell a story through his design is spot-on. He exemplifies classic, historically motivated architecture that our clients are drawn to. Clients seek him out to build their dream homes and we take pride in our strong relationship with PA and his team, not only on, but also off the job sites.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you Colonial Reproductions. Your attention to our details and making our vision a reality is smooth and seamless process. The end result is exactly what we expect. You are always a pleasure to work with.

**★★★★★ — rlbourgault, Feb. 2014**

> Complete gut renovation/addition. They nailed it! We got exactly what we wanted and what we expected. We wanted to maintain the character and charm of our 1930's house and they did a fantastic job. They incorporated most of our needs and many of our wants that were outline from day one. We couldn't be happier.. Thank you Patrick and Mike.

**Comment from Patrick Ahearn Architect:**

> Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure working with you on such an exciting project.

- [Grand Country Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/grand-country-home-pj-vj~1911966)
  - Location: Wellesley, MA
  - Photos: 52
  - Description: In honor of historic Wellesley, Massachusetts, Cliff Side was designed to emulate the grand country homes established in the area during the 1920s. The style and grace of the bygone era is captured as soon as one approaches the property by the formality and majesty of the arrival sequence. The motor court circles around a formal English garden symmetrically aligned with a stone arched Richardson Romanesque entry door. Cliff Side is newly constructed; however, the home looks as though it has stoo…
- [Urban Island Village Compound](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/urban-island-village-compound-pj-vj~357438)
  - Location: Martha's Vineyard, MA
  - Photos: 23
  - Description: Edgartown, Martha’s Vineyard was once home to working whalemen. The neighborhood grew over time, formed by modest homesteads for blacksmiths and shipwrights. Davis Lane was “scripted” to fit right into the neighborhood, despite its completion some centuries after its historic neighbors. A story was written in which the house was envisioned to be a 1700s Federal Colonial that grew over time as its family and use expanded. The homestead, circa 2005, now includes a pod of structures with the delibe…

  - Description: This newly constructed property located on Atlantic Drive, South Beach Martha’s Vineyard consists of a new primary house, carriage house, guest house, pool, cabana and outdoor fireplace with pergola. These homes represent the fourth and fifth properties that Patrick has designed along this private way of six properties over the last ten years. Each home is designed to have the primary living spaces on the second level to take advantage of the ocean views. The double gable form of these two homes…

  - Description: Witchwood is located on the shoreline of Edgartown Harbor on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. This classical gambrel compound conveys the style and grace of a bygone era of grand country houses along the coast of New England. Access to the property is through a wooded glen that transforms into a Gatsby-like arrival court as one travels through the gatehouse; at this juncture, the imagery of the house unfolds. The property consists of a gatehouse, carriage house, guest house, pool and primary hou…
- [Historic Harbor Restoration](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/historic-harbor-restoration-pj-vj~457478)
  - Location: Edgartown, MA
  - Photos: 25
  - Description: The 1682 vintage Harbor Restoration house along Edgartown Village’s Historic South Water Street has lived many lives over the last three hundred and thirty plus years. At one time the water front elevation of the original house was actually the street front façade in the 1600’s. The restoration of this property required the original house to be lifted off its crumbling foundation, a new brick veneered concrete foundation to be installed, and a post by post restoration of the original post and be…

  - Location: Edgartown, MA
  - Photos: 32
  - Description: The Rural Vineyard residence was designed in the Gambrel Shingle style. The implied symmetry of the house celebrates the long views to the water. The open field of wild flowers and fieldstone walls serve as a podium for the intimately scaled grand seaside residence. The primary living spaces take advantage of the long views to the water, while the primary access to the property is through a newly created courtyard, with its pedestrian entry and carriage house wing. The west side of the court hou…
- [Grand Country House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/grand-country-house-pj-vj~357267)
  - Location: Weston, MA
  - Photos: 22
  - Description: This newly constructed stone and “swirl” sided home is nestled in a tall grove of evergreens, in a nearby suburb of Boston. The “H” shaped pattern of the home creates both an entry arrival court and a rear private outdoor series of spaces, including porches, terraces and family gathering areas. All of which never hints at the full scale of the home. This pattern language allows the house to feel intimate, and charming, in a romantic way. The tall stone chimneys flanking the main façade at the en…
- [Little Harbor Residence](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/little-harbor-residence-pj-vj~330794)
  - Location: Cohassett, MA
  - Photos: 24
  - Description: The primary objective of this significant transformation was to create a classic New England seaside vernacular cottage based on the superstructure of a 1960’s contemporary ranch house, which sat on a challenging cliff overlooking the harbor with views to the Atlantic Ocean. The fundamental obstacle of the Little Harbor House was the restrictive site conditions. Site related issues of topography, zoning, and conservation concerns proved challenging in working with the existing superstructure of…

  - Photos: 32
  - Description: 31 South Water Street is an 1860’s vintage captain’s house along Edgartown harbor. This home is also located within the Edgartown Historic District and all exterior approvals had to be obtained from the Historic District Commission. The recently completed restoration was complex. The house has been heavily modified over the years. Most of the original interior and exterior detail was either removed or significantly modified and as of last year, only the basic massing of the house was intact. Bas…
