**★ — Matt Fuxa, May 2026**

> I engaged with Pitch Concepts in March of 2022 to build a garage with a rooftop deck and could not have been more unhappy with the service and quality of the work performed.
> The timeline to complete the job was the most egregious part of the engagement. The original contract, as drafted by Pitch’s lawyer, stipulated that the job would be completed within three months of permit issuance (issued on June 13, 2022). The final day of work on the garage was May 1, 2024. A 3-month job took Pitch Concepts over 22 months! I was given excuses blaming Covid, manpower scheduling, weather, and city inspectors for delays instead of prioritizing this job to get it done within the terms of the contract. Baky, the owner, even admitted via email that he sent his crews to Tennessee to work on a large commercial project while ours was deprioritized.
> General incompetence abounded with the crews performing work and in the office with basic recordkeeping. When the garage was wired for electricity, the electricians never ran a line from the house, so they had to come back 2 weeks later to sufficiently hook up the electricity (leaving a large hole in the drywall that wasn’t repaired for over a month). I specified the color for the rollup party door in October 2022, and then upon installation it ended up being the wrong color (Baky admitted that this was his mistake and never fixed it).
> Workmanship was very shoddy in many areas and was brought to Baky’s attention multiple times in the 22-month garage build. Initially, Baky agreed via email to fix many of these items but never did. Water leaks due to improperly installed garage doors, flashing not installed at the edge of the rubber roof membrane, siding not installed to manufacturer specifications, and jagged edges on the metal coping where people enter and exit the rooftop were just a few of the many issues that were identified throughout the course of the build.
> I got a third-party home inspector out to estimate the cost to remedy the deficiencies from Pitch Concepts. That estimate came in at well over $20k to fix. At this point I informed Baky that I would be withholding the final payment of about $11k until we had a joint walkthrough (as specified in the contract) to discuss any items that needed to be fixed. This was met with extreme hostility and threats to place a lien on my property and that they would sue to get the remaining amount. In Baky’s/Pitch’s mind, the garage was “substantially complete” in February 2023, absolving them from any responsibility because the workmanship claims were brought up over a year after they were installed (even though they were documented in email throughout the course of 2023). In the meantime, there was a 6-foot by 8-foot hole in the garage that was covered up with plywood until the party door was installed in May 2024. This was hardly a secure place to store belongings, as someone could have walked up and forced their way in without too much issue.

> Baky and his crew built a 500sqft rooftop deck on my west town house and they did a fantastic job with everything. From the initial planning conversations, and his responsiveness to communications and coordination of the project start, to the speed and efficiency of the teams who installed the pergola, joists, deck, outlets/lights, and steel railings, they exceeded my expectations iat every turn. It only took them a week from the signing of the contract to complete the entire project. I'm very happy with the experience and would recommend them to anyone looking to work with Baky and his team. THANK YOU!

**★ — Jeff Hesse, Aug. 2019**

> Wish I could say we had as good of an experience as others. Once we got close to a final design, we were sent a $24k invoice with a due date for deposit on that day. We still had some design elements that hadn't been finalized, and wanted to wait to hear back on those. But by the next day our project was cancelled through an email from Sharon (in New York??) saying "unfortunately Baky was not flexible on his "first come, first serve policy". He finalized 2 pending projects this morning, we are now fully committed. I'm really sorry we won't be able to assist you with your project this season". We never heard from anyone that our project could have been cancelled within a day, never new about a "first come first serve policy", we had the week before offered to give Baky a check as a down payment which he said he didn't need. Now we're back at square one. Terribly poor customer experience, no managing of expectations, the cancellation was through email, with no communication to date from Baky.

> Working with Baky and the Pitch team was fantastic. They were responsive, modern/digital and did great work. Thank you Baky and team for going the extra mile to make sure our vision was brought to life so efficiently and effectively!

**★★★★★ — Anthony Zeoli, April 2019**

> I honestly cannot say enough good things about Baky and the team at Pitch Concepts. From day one Baky was professional, courteous, helpful and without a doubt honest. He listened to what I wanted, helped me figure out ways around issues and most importantly didn’t try to rip me of along the way. What he quoted is what I paid.
>
> These guys were quick, efficient and reliable and Baky went out of his way to make sure the job was perfect and I was happy. Just take a look at the before and after pics, and this was all done in a week. Save time looking, I have done several of these projects across various houses and there is ABSOLUTELY NOBODY better for your outdoor needs. I already have him looking into another project for me.

**★★★★★ — Christopher Loubsky, May 2018**

> Top Notch Service! From the initial scoping of our project through the completion and follow-up of the end product, PitchConcepts delivered impeccable service. The process from start to finish was seamless, professional and timely. Baky took the time to evaluate our needs, listen to our concerns and incorporate our vision into his design. We felt that Baky treated our project as a partnership rather than a job and and it is clearly reflected in the end result. We could not be happier with Baky and his team for the amazing deck that we will enjoy for years to come. Thank you Baky and your amazing crew for improving our home!

**★★★★★ — Kathryn Wilson, May 2018**

> Baky and his team are seriously the best. While that may seem hyperbolic, it’s actually a gross understatement. Building out our roof was the first large contracted job my husband and I undertook and, appropriately, we had no idea what we were doing. While had a general idea of what we wanted (daybeds, a TV, some green eggs, planters), we had no idea how to put it all together to make a cohesive and usable space. Baky was able to listen to what we wanted and within no more than three iterations draft up our dream roof.
>
> Baky was very communicative throughout the build out (to the point where my husband noted that I spoke to Baky more than him and my parents combined). He was also very detail oriented and focused on the quality of the product. This translated into Baky voicing concerns about, and subsequently replacing, a good portion of our roof. Replacing our roof obviously elongated the project and likely consumed any availability Baky and his team had but knowing the buildout was done on a sound structure was of paramount concern.
>
> There were so many times during the buildout where I pivoted my thinking and Baky would accommodate the changes without the least bit of hesitation. He’s likely created a monster for any future contractor we work with, but his flexibility relieved me of many sleepless nights.
>
> We couldn’t recommend Baky more and have already told him he’ll be among the first people we contact when we buy our next place.

**★★★★★ — Josie Maynard, Feb. 2018**

> Bakary Soumare and his team are total pros from concept to completion. I will never again work anyone else for my outdoor living space! He has a natural feel for creating a space that is beautiful AND liveable, with a creative flare.

**★★★★★ — Dina Wolf, Dec. 2017**

> Pitch Concepts has been a gift to work with. From the moment we met Baky Soumare, we knew he was special as he walked through our home, met our twins and shared his initial design thoughts. Baky asked questions on how we envisioned 3 outdoor spaces including 2 car garage deck, internal courtyard, trex deck for 2 balconies, and replaced entire house roof.
>
> We weren’t planning on new decks until next summer and after talking to Baky and seeing his graphic renderings, we decided to do the internal courtyard, balconies and garage deck. He curated top of the line products at an incredible value including Sun Louvre aluminum retractable pergola, Dekton stone for the fire pit,Trex decking and stylish modern chairs and table.
>
> Baky was always present throughout the process. He was transparent with all aspects of the project. We encountered water penetration from an unprecedented storm soon after the project started. Baky provided support, guidance and a solid plan to seal the decks and replace the house roof.
>
> We are beyond thrilled with our deck. It truly is a work of art and a year round extension of our home. The pergola protects from wind, water and snow. Our teens love the smokeless fire pit.
>
> Baky’s team was professional, respectful, and did incredible work from demolition to rebuild. We were impressed with clean work areas even during demolition. Baky’s right hand guy, Branli, was amazing to work with too. He was always smiling and tirelessly working next to teams of guys. Their long-term work relationship is a strong testament to this solid team.
>
> Our friends, family and other contractors have complimented Baky’s work. We highly recommend Pitch Concepts for their unique design and partnership. They have worked magic on our dream home. We are excited to work with Baky on the house roof next year.

**★★★★★ — Rebecca Caldersmith, Dec. 2017**

> I recently had Pitch Concepts install a my new roof deck after my roof was replaced. I had some ideas on what I was looking for design-wise and had conducted my own research on decking materials, but I was looking for a company who could provide additional ideas. After meeting with Baky, he provided fantastic design ideas to maximize my roof space, how to hide unsightly roof vents, as well as a multitude of deck and pergola material options. The Pitch team were always on time, respectful of my neighbors and surroundings, and we willing to answer my questions throughout the project. I would absolutely recommend Pitch Concepts to any home owner or business looking for a professional and elegant new roof deck. Top notch customer service!

**★★★★★ — Meredith Edwards, Sept. 2017**

> Pitch concepts is simply the best. They went above and beyond to help build us the perfect roof deck. In fact throughout the process Baky and his team became friends! We could not have designed our new roof top space without their help and guidance. Not only did they build a beautiful space but they helped with planting, assembling furniture, and decor advice :). If you are looking for a professional customized experience look no further.

**★★★★★ — Josh P, Aug. 2017**

> Baky was great from start to finish. He was on time, knowledgeable, and went the extra mile. He stuck to his quote and did exactly what he said he was going to do. We've since had inquiries for magazine and commercial shoots on the deck. I got quotes and contacted a number of builders. After interviewing all of them and seeing what Baky did, I wouldn't hire anyone else besides Pitch Concepts!

## Community Q&A

**Q: pergola on roof** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi.
What material is the pergola made from?
And can the slats be closed if there is rain?

A: The pergola is entirely made out of aluminum and yes, it can be closed allowing the area to be completely waterproof.

**Q: Height of Walls** *(in Photo Questions)*

what is the height of the walls from floor to top and seat to top

A: The perimeter walls are 42” high as required by the chicago building code. The height of the seats is 16 1/2” with a 4” think cushion.

**Q: This is stunning! Where can I find the lighting fixtures?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I'm looking for something just like that for a roof top design.

A: Hello, we got them from a place in Chicago called Lightology https://www.lightology.com/index.php?module=prod\_detail&prod\_id=111480

**Q: Countertop** *(in Photo Questions)*

What material is that countertop?

A: Made by Dekton, The color is called "Aura"

**Q: This beautiful. Can you please share the fire pit cap material??** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: We have not any issues with it at all. We have it done locally by a fabricator who specialized in concrete counters and it's worked great for us so far.
The key is for the fabricator to be patient and let it cure nicely before installing it. Our fabricator does it in a shop and let's it cure for at least depending on the time of the year. He once let it cured for 2 weeks in the winter to make sure we would not have any long term issues.
we done some tops in which we had added color and those have been working out great as well. The flexibility of concrete tops are endless, easily customable.
Dekton is still my favorite when budget allows because it looks absolutely fantastic and it's so durable.

Please dont hesitate with nay questions. You can also email us at contact@pitchconcepts.com

**Q: What is the deck material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Trex Decking. Floor Decking “clam shell” and built-ins “island mist”
