Was that engineered?** *(in Photo Questions)* CRL does not recommend attaching to wood ends. How did you mitigate that concern? A: Hi, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. In regards to that project or any other railing project (interior and exterior) we work with an engineer who certifies our designs and installations. It is documented and then schedules are produced and supplied to the local building inspectors. I'm a little unsure why CRL might advise against fastening into wood treads. When standoffs are used on exterior applications, a lot of times they are being fastened to fascia board which is a soft wood and is more susceptible to movement. Your stair treads are all hardwood typically and very unlikely to have any movement. We haven't had a single problem with this design and we have been doing lots of them. Hope this helps! **Q: Standoff hardware** *(in Photo Questions)* Where did you find the black standoff hardware? A: Hi ashletain, The hardware that we used was actually brushed stainless to begin with. We sandblasted them and then had them powder coated in a flat black.
