Our approach celebrates collaboration and creation.

The term Studio in the firm name refers to an architectural design process of collaborating with individuals and goes well beyond the walls of the studio. Our belief that the client has much to bring to the design table as well as the various craftspeople and general contractors who execute the designs is fundamental to the success of the project. Architecture is a complex process that involves many skilled and well-informed people, but also relies on intuition and a vision. As design leaders, we bring together a strong team of professionals to not only complete your project but ultimately exceed your expectations by bring your vision to life.

Each home design project, like each client, is unique. Your needs, style & taste are of the utmost importance. Your budget and building site are all interdependent and equally crucial to project success. Each aspect of your project is a work of art waiting to be discovered and will ultimately BELONG to you. We find our inspiration for architectural designs by understanding your needs and desires and making them a reality for you to enjoy for many years to come.

**★★★★★ — Braeside Builders, Sept. 2025**

> If you are looking to hire an architect in Vermont, look no further. Volansky Studio operates at the highest level and should be your first choice! As a custom home builder it is crucial to partner with architectural firms that not only design enduring homes, but also add value and efficiencies to the building process. Their team is highly responsive, proactive in solving problems before they arise, and genuinely collaborative. They understand the value of contractor input and integrate it without compromising design integrity. That kind of trust and respect is rare — and incredibly valuable on-site. In short, Volansky Studio is the gold standard of architectural design in Vermont. As builders, we don’t just recommend them – we want them on our projects. Thank you to Kathleen, John, Andrew and team for all that you do!!

**★★★★★ — Haley Peterson, Sept. 2025**

> Volansky Studio brought our dream home to life, turning a pre-fabricated home into a work of art that we hope will be a part of our family for generations to come. The process was extremely organized, thorough, and well thought-out, with every detail meticulously planned and executed. Kathleen's, and the entire team's, attention to detail is second to none, with the whole house coming together not only stunningly in aesthetic, but also providing the perfect blend of craftsmanship, practicality, durability, and longevity. The talent of the whole team is unmatched and evident from top to bottom in the house. Volansky Studio guided us through everything from incorporating a sentimental retired family canoe into a centerpiece light fixture, and shopping trips for stone and flooring, all the way down to getting the door stops just right. They took the time to get to know our family such that the house would reflect how we spend our time and the best use of the space. The communication was seamless, both between us and Volansky Studio, and between Volansky Studio and our builder, and all of the contractors, and it truly was a team effort across the board. On top of the incredible talent of Volansky Studio, and the clear pride that they take in their work, they are simply a joy to work with--kind, thoughtful, hard working, and healthy doses of humor when needed. Kathleen in particular has become extended family to us. We are beyond grateful for this amazing team.

> Andrew is amazing to work with! He is creative, collaborative and energetic and has a special ability to identify unique custom details that really make a property shine. We had such a good experience with Andrew when working with him to build our primary residence (for which he and our builder won awards) that we have since engaged him for several other projects. Each time, we are impressed with his ability to consider how people really live, how important it is to factor in the orientation of a place (how and at what time will the light hit, where and how to best enjoy a view, etc.), and how to select the ideal products and finishes to make a space beautiful and filled with personality while also being practical and able to hold up over time. Andrew is patient and fun and we always look forward to our discussions. Andrew is consistently focused on making sure that his clients get exactly what they want and he has always been available and responsive. We are currently working with Andrew on our third large project, each project has been completly unique and he has created something amazing for us every single time. Highly recommend!

> We hired Volansky Studio for our home renovation and are thrilled with the results. Andrew quickly understood our needs & aesthetic and designed a beautiful home that exceeded our expectations. In addition to a new mudroom, office and dining area the existing house was completely remodeled. Andrew’s design transformed a dated 1980’s house into an open, highly functional space that we love being in. We would highly recommend Andrew and his team!

**★★★★★ — Evan Chismark, Nov. 2019**

> These guys are, in a word, amazing. Andrew and his team were not only the definition of professionalism, but went WAY above and beyond to help us meet a deadline. Their work was top notch, including follow up after completion. Cannot recommend this team highly enough as they far exceeded our expectations...

**★★★★★ — J Dawg, Sept. 2019**

> I can't say enough good things about Andrew Volansky and the work he does. We met on the Quad skiing a handful of years ago and he has more than impressed us throughout our search process and finally designing a remodel of the exact home we have been in search of for over four years. Not only is Andrew a terrific architect who fully understands the environment he works in, honing creative and functional design skills (typically I have found people with one or the other), but his ability to work with a difficult customer who wanted to fully drive the bus and his network of every possible GC, sub-contractor, artisan maker, etc in the area is second to none. Can't thank him enough for his great work and connecting all of the dots for us.
> Andrew and his awesome associate Kathleen have a super cool new studio on Mountain Road that is fully worth a stop and chat: http://volanskystudio.com/ tel:802.793.4999

**★★★★★ — Glen Cousins, Jan. 2019**

> With many firms in our area to choose for custom home design we are very pleased that we selected Volansky Studio. We highly recommend Andrew and Kathleen. They provide professional and creative results in a personal environment. Their connections with local builders and suppliers is valuable.

**★★★★★ — Kim Campbell, Nov. 2018**

> As you can see from my rating that I give Andrew, Kat and Volansky Studio the highest praise.
> He and Kat were very professional and responsive. They were client friendly and listened and wanted our feedback. Rarely was Andrew adamant about his idea or concept on a particular part of our renovation, yet when he was we agreed and understood. The finished product says it all! It takes time AND effort to build repoire with a new relationship and my wife and I did exactly that with Andrew, but more importantly he did that with us.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Levy, Oct. 2018**

> I used Volansky to renovate a basement in my Stowe home. The basement had low ceilings, was chopped up and quite undesirable when we started. Andrew dove in and seemed energized by the challenge of making this dank, unusable space livable. He turned a large abandoned utility closet into a "kids camp" with 7 bunks. He designed a GORGEOUS double-stall camp-style shower, and he even worked in a game room and a basketball goal. The basement went from being the worst spot in the house to the place where every most loves to hang out. It was a truly fabulous design. His work was meticulously attentive to detail, stylish and creative, and always on time an on budget. I was blown away with his great customer service. My family is dying to build or renovate something else so we can see more of his brilliant ideas come to life. A++++

**★★★★★ — HU-620963648, Oct. 2018**

> Working with Andrew Volansky and his team to build our dream house in Vermont was a true pleasure. Volansky Studio collaborated exceptionally well with us as clients while staying on time and on budget. Their close relationship with outstanding builders in the area made the whole process very streamlined. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build or renovate a home in Vermont.

**★★★★★ — Susan Teare, Professional Photographer, Feb. 2018**

> I have worked with Andrew Volansky for many years and have enjoyed every minute of it. He is professional, warm, detailed-oriented and extremely talented. I have photographed many of his projects, ranging from new construction to small budget remodels. Andrew's attention to his clients' needs creates a collaborative effort desirable to to anyone designing and/or building a home, or commercial property. Andrew is clearly dedicated to the creative process of architectural design, and sensitive to the desires and dreams of his clients.

**★★★★★ — Newschool Builders LLC, Dec. 2017**

> We have worked with Andrew on several projects over the years. As a builder, we work with a lot of different architects and design professionals. Andrew has always been one of the best and easiest to work with. HIs plans are accurate and detailed, he understands what the current costs of construction are, and he communicates well with the client and the builder. Another great quality of Andrew's is that he listens to the guys in the field and is open to value added engineering. This ensures that not only will a project look amazing but that it will last a long time. Andrew and his team always get a referral from us when our clients are selecting architects.

 - Description: The Green River Reservoir is one of Vermont’s most protected natural assets: remote, carefully managed, and the kind of place people fight to keep exactly as is. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Beautiful House!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you share what gray paint that is in the living room? Thanks so much
Gregg

A: Im glad you like it, we do too! Cape May Cobblestone 1474 Ben Moore. thx

**Q: What color is the paint on the cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Unfortunately, I do not have that information. Im sure your local Ben Moore dealer can help narrow it down. Good Luck

**Q: Love the fireplace! What type of stone did you use? Quartz/Bluestone?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The hearth is Hampton Limestone and the surround is a veneer stone - similar to American Granite, supplied by the mason...I dont have the exact specification. If I learn more, Ill follow up. Thx for your question

**Q: Room height please** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you mind sharing how tall this room is for the bunk beds? I just love how you’ve designed this space!

A: The ceiling heights are a bit less than ideal at 7'-8" but it was what we had to work with in this renovation. The back beds where actually where the owners stored all of the house paints and stains and was littered with plumbing runs and electrical wires

**Q: What type of wood is this clad with, and how was it treated?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love this look! Is this stain or a paint wash? Thanks!

A: Thank you for your question. This is simply 1x8 vertical shiplap pine stained with a Cabot
bleaching oil. Good luck!
