**Q: Should I get a 4" backsplash same as my counter material if no tile?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm ordering new countertops, as the house came with laminate and I want to update it to quartz in a similar color. I'm planning to remove the tile backsplash, and to fix the drywall behind it. My dilemma is whether to get the 4 inch backsplash in the same material as the countertop, or not. I know that look is dated, but I also don't want to tile the wall. Oh, and the 4&quot; backsplash pushes me into a second slab, so it adds ~ $1500 in cost. Of note: my kitchen sink is on a peninsula, so I don't have the issue of water splashing behind the sink onto a wall. Thanks in advanced for your input!

A 4″ splash can work well if you’re not adding tile, but for a modern, seamless look and better wall protection, a full-height backsplash is a great choice. Would love to hear any comments Pro and Con to Taj Mahal Quartzite.  I am seeing a lot of it and I can't remember if I read somewhere that it was not as desirable as granite.  Am I remembering wrong?

This slab is Taj Mahal Leather and it's pretty, but I think I would rather go honed.  Is there any Pros or Cons to putting Leather finish in kitchen?  If used as perimeter counters, is Leather finish OK?

I am searching for a mostly white countertop and I see many beautiful ones on Houzz referred to as &quot;quartzite&quot;, but most of the quartzite I see at online stores has a lot of veining. Installing new kitchen.  I really love the clean look of white. Does white shaker go well with white sparkling quartz? The cabinets on the island are  gray.  It's more cost effective to do the sparkling white on the island also. I would love some input.
