To the right of the fireplace is the flat screen TV. To the right is a wall with two windows and s slider in the middle. We have a farmhouse style, we really have chickens. We have a bran wood wall opposite the tv that is mostly gray tones. I am thinking of a square mirror, but I am not sure if that would look good next to the windows? This wall in question is the wall that you see when you enter the house, with the fireplace as the focal point. Help! Thanks! Terri A: I agree with other comments about the clock. My thoughts are that it fights with the brick and steals the show, and I think it's because the numbers are big and chunky not necessarily the size. It almost needs its own special place on a blank wall. The fireplace is the focal point and has a busy stone look to it, so keep things simple. Either find a clock with very similar tones and colors so it blends in or use a simple dried arrangement like in this photo. The mirror if you have one I would use in the corridor into the living room. Mirrors are great for small dark spaces to reflect light. Still trying to decide on floors I need to decide by end of day the backsplash with be full carerra marble do you like any of these? I'm leaning towards the 2 on the left side, will the lightest look too washed out? Thanks in advance for all you help:)!!! A: If your cabinets and countertops are light I would pick one of the darker tiles. You don't want the floor to merge with the cabinets. The dark grey is the accent color in the marble, So go for that, if you haven't already picked that is :) good luck. Are you keeping the blinds or changing those out? **Q: I need ideas on how to make the window well on my patio safe!** *(in Design Dilemma)* My patio was recently re-done and we are using it more than ever, which is great! However, the window well within it is now a safety hazard - particularly for my toddler! What can I do to prevent anyone from falling in that will still look attractive? Note in pictures attached that I cannot "hang" anything off the metal portion of the well because it does not continue all around, and covering it with a piece of wood or something will still be a tripping hazard. I would love your suggestions, which are hopefully cost-effective too! Thanks in advance! A: I would put black wrought iron bars over, they can look quite attractive if done well. **Q: Need ideas for landscaping** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am looking for ideas for landscaping the front of my house. I would like to remove the bushes. I live in Minnesota so my options are not endless. I am also looking to paint the front door. Thanks for your input!!! A: Depending how wide your steps are, flowering plants in pots are always nice for curb appeal., perennials and annuals of varying height should be a good replacement for the bushes as well as grasses. You might think about boulders or large rocks to give texture and variation. You could get something tall growing for in between the two windows then it won't cut light and also hides the chimney breast. Paint steps a neutral beige similar to brick color and I can't tell if your windows have a trim color or not, but it looks black from the photo, I would do the window trim and front door in the same color like a mocha brown.
