We didn't know what pricing for construction would be, so she created two different kitchen plans, an "ideal" but likely more expensive, and a backup. She made several different plans for our crazy primary bathroom until she found the best one. She helped us interview contractors and select all of the finishings in our home from cabinetry to pulls, to hardware, and wallpaper. We gravitated towards her ability to create eclectic designs but were impressed with how thoughtful she was with planning the little details like the best place for a trash can, towel hooks, spice rack, etc. Our contractor praised her plans highly for being extremely detailed. She worked well with the construction project manager to make sure every light, switch, window, cabinet was in the correct place. She even caught that a couple of windows were framed at the incorrect height and had that fixed before things got too far. Our home is finally done and we love it. Our project involved the entire main level (including the front door and all window treatments) minus the kitchen, and Neela helped structure the design process in an easy, understandable and fun way. We never would have approached it the way she did so, with the stellar results, we're very glad we hired her. The installation also went smoothly. We had trouble with one contractor and Neela was a tremendous advocate, always getting involved to make sure the work was done as expected. We let her know our budget and, although we managed it ourself throughout the process, Neela provided detailed invoices for us to track. She also was very open about which pieces were more or less expensive than for what we were getting so we could invest money in something important (e.g., a prominent break front) as opposed to something less so. The one downside was that the process took longer than expected, so if there are specific timeline considerations (which there weren't for us)' that should be established up front so everyone can level-set expectations. Neela also felt like a friend, and always gave us appropriate advice for our home and our lives.
