Carol K. Courter started Techline out of necessity when she started building her own home and needed an organizational solution provider. With her zest and skill for organization, Carol opened Techline Studio in 1991 as one of the first non-architectural firms in the country able to be a distributor using the Techline name. In 1993, Jerry D. Couter became Carol's Partner & Vice President of Sales, changing the company name to Techline Furniture & Cabinetry. Jerry came directly from Techline USA factory in Wisconsin, where he served as the first-ever factory-direct sales representative for the company. Techline's growth and expansion into more products resulted in its current name change in the summer of 2011 to Techline Furniture, Cabinetry & Closets. They had several locations over the years until they decided to build their own building on West Freeway in Fort Worth five years ago. 

For 20 years co-owners Carol K. Courter and Jerry D. Courter have provided the DFW Metroplex with expertly designed furniture & storage systems. Since its' founding in 1991, Techline has evolved into offering one-stop-shop solutions for homes and businesses, and has implemented environmentally conscious 'green' initiatives with products that meet LEED certification. ## Community Q&A

**Q: KITCHEN REMODEL!!!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I would like to be realistic as possible.... My backyard redo went over budget so I'm left with $10,000 for my kitchen. This is what my kitchen looks like now, I know a good remodel costs about $20K and up so designers, what do you think I can or should get done with my budget. I should have started with my kitchen remodel first but i spend more time outdoors than I do in my kitchen so it only made sense to start with the part id get the most use out of. 

So here are two pictures of my kitchen now, ALL ADVICE will be welcomed because right now, my kitchen is the only odd ball in my house...

A: First get rid of the things that date your space. You'll get the biggest 'bang for your buck' by redoing the following.
-New Floors (laminate and even linoleum are good options with a bazillion choices). 
-Paint the walls (white overload!) and remove/redo the wallpaper. 
-Get rid of the fake plants.
-Install roman shades in a bold pattern and color will add a focal points. 
-New Hardware for the doors/drawers. 
-Add corbels or trim to your island.
Those changes are all fairly inexpensive and will probably be less than half your budget. From there take a look and reevaluate what you're not happy with. If you still have money you want to spend I'd put it into new appliances. You'd be surprised at how much of a discount you can get by bidding companies against each other. Put together a list of model numbers and price shop those to get accurate pricing.

I'd call this a makeover rather than a remodel. I don't think you need a real tear our and start over. You have a good structure to work with, it just needs to be tweaked.
