> Landmark Construction was integral in the success of a executive wine estate in Southern California. The scope of the project included Main house renovation/expansion of an existing 100 year old structure, new Guest house with wine cellar, new garage/equipment building and a new winery. Also included was the exterior landscape and hardscape scope including custom retaining walls for elevated garden planters, reflection pond, infinity swimming pool with spa, outdoor deck with fireplace, pizza oven and barbecue area.
>
> Throughout the entire construction process and post occupancy Landmark Construction maintained a collaborative and professional role in assisting the Design Team and Client achieve the goals for the project. Design changes requested by the Client during construction were dealt with a "can-do" attitude and a willingness to suggest other cost effective alternatives while maintaining design intent.
>
> Attention to detail and willingness to maintain design integrity from an Architectural perspective was remarkable. I felt I was working with a true craftsman who respected design and the design process.

> Brett is the general contractor for our new 3,900 square foot Spanish Colonial Revival style home in Mission Canyon, Santa Barbara. The home is on a narrow view lot, and this has made construction challenging. Brett has seen the project nearly through to completion at this point: we are now finishing out the interior. He has managed to control costs while still delivering very high quality work (as a retired experimental physicist, I have had my nose in every detail).
>
> One great contribution Brett brings to his work is his love for and knowledge of architecture. Not only has he made several improvements to our plans (we began with plans from a good local firm), he has insisted on having a myriad of details done in a manner consistent with our chosen style.
>
> Working with him has been delightful and refreshing. He welcomes a good idea regardless of the source. He is absolutely open and honest in all his dealings, both with us and with the subcontractors. We know exactly how much he paid for any supplies, and how much each subcontractor is being paid. We have made a large number of changes, and have never seen a "change order" with outrageous costs. Instead, we have paid only the actual extra costs involved, with no further markup.

> This construction company built my house and oversaw every detail - my husband and I were living on the East Coast at the time of construction. Incredible attention to detail, on budget and on time.

> I found my experience working with Brett to be enjoyable, inspiring and professional. He is not only experienced and efficient, but also creative, detail oriented and cost conscious as well. He is able to handle complex and high pressured projects smoothly and within time and budget restraints. I would work with him again anytime.

> Landmark construction built a house. large garage and guesthouse totaling 10,000 sq. ft. for us in Hope Ranch in 2009-2010. This was the 4th house that we've built in 4 different states and we were pleased with Landmark Construction. They finished the job on time and under our budget which I learned after the fact is unusual in Santa Barbara, a notoriously expensive and over-regulated housing market. The owner Brett was very responsive and we also benefited from his solid understanding of design and "what looks good" which is sometimes lacking with builders. He was straight forward and honest and we continue to enjoy our home, 4 years after it was completed.

> I have worked with Brett and Landmark Construction since 2006 on various projects ranging from small residential additions to larger, more complicated multi-building complexes.
>
> In each of these projects, regardless of size, I’ve been impressed with Brett’s determination to create the best possible project for his client, providing the highest possible quality for that particular budget.
> Brett has an attention to detail and authenticity of design that is uncommon among contractors. He is not afraid to voice his concern over design decisions if he feels there might be a better solution.
> I describe Brett as a “client’s advocate”, not just a contractor, in that he really strives to provide his clients the best final product for their unique set of circumstances and goals. On a personal note, I enjoy Brett’s sense of humor.
>
> I highly recommend him and look forward to the opportunity to work with him on future projects.

## Community Q&A

**Q: cabinets** *(in Photo Questions)*

what color was used on the cabinets? beautiful!

A: The color we used for the kitchen cabinets was: Dunn Edwards "Flintstone".

**Q: Could you please tell me,the paint color on the panel walls** *(in Photo Questions)*

Because ,I bought a house and ,I find the panelling in the living room to dark and is also varnished .What are the step to make it look nice like yours???thank you very much (sorry about my english writing)

A: Thanks for your interest. It is Frazee's "Total Recall" in a satin finish.

**Q: Stone source?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this the same stone that's used on the exterior? Its gorgeous, can you share any details? Its exactly what I'm looking for..

A: Hello, and thank you. El Dorado is the manufacturer of this man made stone called "Santa Barbara Sandstone" in their random pattern. Unfortunately, they have stopped producing this pattern (confirm this for yourself). On subsequent projects, I have had to use a real sandstone veneer (1 1/2" thick) at a 20% higher cost. However, there is no substitute for the real McCoy- which was produced here in Santa Barbara, Ca.

**Q: Color Wall** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you tell me which color was used on the walls?

A: This was a custom color integrated plaster- no paint.

**Q: Would you mind sharing the countertop material and name?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi. I wish I could remember the name! It is a 3 cm granite material in a grey-green color, with some gold. I believe it came out of Brazil. There are not too many granites with broad movement, and names can vary. Hope this helps!

**Q: How thick are the counters?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How thick are the counters and what material was used? Beautiful space!!!

A: Hello, and thanks for your question. We used a quartzite material called "Taj Mahal". It is 3/4" thick, with a 4" mitered return at the face.
