She took the time with me to go to different furniture stores; had patience with me while I was on the fence with many different fabrics; helped me by putting me in touch with master builders and artists to create my amazing library (favorite room in the house); she took the time to understand our needs (bad back, pet, young kids with special needs) and worked her magic. I could reach her any time. She replied to any questions quickly. If any problems arose; like a fabric or item being discontinued; she was quick to remedy the situation by finding me great alternatives. Michelle came up with great floor plans, colors, window treatments and lighting ideas, and kept me grounded when I was going out of my mind trying to decorate four huge rooms (two of which I did not even have in the last house). Anyone who has visited our house has complemented us on our new furnishings. Enter Susan, who helped take that large, imposing room and turned it into a warm, cozy, inviting room for the whole family. Working with the existing color scheme in the rest of the house, Susan picked out colors, fabrics and styles that really spoke to my taste. She was even able to design the room around a chair that my husband wanted. We are so thrilled with the results! Susan helped in other areas of our home as well with furniture placements, dressing some very large built in bookcases, and just adding those 'right' touches to the more formal rooms in the house. In fact, I used the hate my Living Room in my old house. To me it was functional and nothing more. I knew from the start that I was going to use a professional to do all the window treatments seeing as the house has SO MANY windows. I knew what I liked and didn't like, and in some rooms knew exactly what I wanted, but in others I was stumped. Michelle helped me navigate those waters easily. She helped me get the look I was going for, and in a lot of areas helped me save money while doing it. Her recommendations of fabrics that looked like silk but were not were great choices for the formal areas. She also worked with me on modifying my hardware that I had brought from my previous home or matching it where needed. She even helped come up with a way to install a plantation shutter on an odd shaped window in a bathroom. Her installers were fantastic and very neat/clean. Michelle Gonella, who we'd worked with before, clearly knows window shades and decorating -- she's quick to suggest alternatives that make sense, whether in style, color, or operation. She also keeps up on new products, can describe how the new products compare to older ones, as well as how new shades operate and should be maintained. Michelle is also good at suggesting styles and colors that blend in with furniture and paint colors, whether they are new or existing furniture/paint colors. So she makes it possible to add window treatments to an existing room that work well without requiring full redecoration of an entire room -- good in creating less upheaval and good in controlling overall cost. From our discussions with her, she's also very knowledgeable about drapes and curtains, not just shades.
