> I was most impressed at how Jean Stephane took in my husband likes and then mine and blended our tastes into an adorable setting for us . This included storage issues ( hubby wants to keep 500 or so cd's !)
> The colour scheme from room to room makes this Condo a place that we both still marvel at almost a year later.
> Given realistic time frame there was no problem with updates and info on how our project was evolving . Thanks again JS -

> I decided to hire this designer after seeing his work in the House and Home magazine. We gave him a small project to begin the relationship. The result exceeded expectations. He knew how to push the design and adapt it to our needs. We certainly could not have done the project without him. He followed us through the process, according to our needs and met our doubts with a lot of information that has secured us a lot. He saw to every detail of the project and prioritized and maximized our budget to deliver a quality product. It is also concerned with the life of the design and even construction waste, which we loved !! It also surrounds professionals and friendly people. The result is original, functional and level design that we could not have achieved without it. We recommend it without hesitation to people who want an original design, a space welcoming and timeless project

> Listens and is open to client suggestions. He listened to our fears of over-spending for window treatments and camu up with a great option! Listening is key.

## Community Q&A

**Q: countertop with cream cabinets kitchen and backsplash advice please!** *(in Home Decorating)*

Please help me select a countertop that looks best with Wyoming silk cream cabinets(cream or white kitchen i"m confused there too). I’m stuck either to go with quartz Berwyn or Nevern by Cambria or silver frost granite(cheaper option). In the picture its silver frost and berwyn countertop sample. If Anyone can help me choose between these countertops or have some other advice with color please do so. I have also selected backsplash that’s hexagon aluminium and stone accent mirage. I was also thinking about glass backsplash plain ones. I will attach picture of my selections let me know if it looks good Or need a change. Hardwood is engineered hardwood by shaw. Do you think its too dark? Should i choose a diffrent brand? This is our first home purchase and everything is so overwhelming.

A: I have painted and lacquered many kitchens in my career. Painted looks great even when "dinged" where lacquered not as much, much is usually quite resistant. Well done paint or laquer is quite long lasting (depends on cleaning and wear). Wood is very expensive and will age as well (varnish will wear, wood will have marks).

**Q: Windows...to gird or not to grid?!** *(in Windows)*

As you can see the 3D picture of the home I am building has window girds. I didn't choose those the architect just threw those in when he was designing the house. We are at the phase in building that I need to decide if I should do window grids. I was given 13 options!! I like option 1 or 9. I am open to other ideas or inspiration photos!

A: 11 !! I never believe in a purist position on architecture, unless you are restoring or you want to follow a recipe. Architecture is fluid and should be. One style influences another and what we build today is a mix of different styles. Pick what works and looks good to you. I actually like 11 because it is close to \#2, but a simpler version that reduces visual clutter.

**Q: What would you do if this was your kitchen?** *(in Polls)*

Husband is building us shaker style kitchen cabinets (they’ll replace the janky peach ones pictured) in our 1930’s bungalow and I‘m torn on what to paint them. Shiplap was everywhere when we moved in and we are painting it alabaster. Our north facing kitchen is fairly dark except for a hour in the evening so dark colors are probably not going to work (even though I like the white and navy combo.)
Below are pics of our space plus the colors we have been decorating with throughout the house. Should we paint the cabinets colonnade gray to match the trim or go bold and do a two tone with base cabinets being either a navy or sw brocoflower green? Or something different altogether? Husband isn’t fond of more white cabinets and we are planning on doing a white silestone counter.
It’s a 13x14 space with no dining room so furniture has to stay however the rug can be replaced If something else would be better.

A: I would put the wall cabinets up to the ceiling. I would do two - tone like off-white and that beautiful and fresh green people are looking at above ! The off-white could be in the same family as the green.

**Q: Help! I need with wall colors** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello,
First let me start off by saying please ignore my hideous microwave and 70’s counter tops. My husband started painting the walls and I decided I didn’t like the color. As you can see by the picture I already had a shade of red but want to go with something different but it’s been difficult trying to find something to go with my kitchen cabinets. Any suggestions? I have also attached a picture of my living room because I need help finding a wall color. I wanted to get away from the rustic look and go with something more rustic modern? I don’t even know if that makes sense haha! Any ideas will help! TIA

A: \#2 !

**Q: Ideas for the front door tiles?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Any ideas on what I could do to make the bottom step for the front door nicer? Right now it’s this tiling from the previous owner.

Thanks!!

A: Love your colors ! A tinted concrete slab (in grey-blue) would look great !

**Q: What color should I paint** *(in Paint)*

I have a green apple couch with a taupe settee and a papas an in the living room. I am confused as to what color should I paint mainly because my dining room and living room are combined...I have a massive wall behind the settee and my ceilings are 30ft high. I really need help with this project.

A: I would go with something like Skylight from Farrow & Ball. I agree that a pale blue-grey would look great !
