> Working with Chad and Rochelle was such a nice experience. They were 100% professional with everything they did and their work was done in a very respectable time and manner. Chad made everything so easy for me by working around my time frame and Rochelle is a genius with making the color look phenomenal together. My yard looks absolutely amazing!!! I will definitely refer them to my friends and family. Thank you guys again so much for making my yard look completely beautiful!! I love it!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Using antique doors for sides of raised beds?** *(in Accessible Gardening)*

Has anyone here used old (i.e. antique) doors for raised beds? My local non-profit salvage store has hundreds of these made of oak, fir, pine, etc. for $10-$15. Most are shellacked; some are painted. I would like to make a total of 25 feet of raised beds approximately 16" high. I figure if I treat the doors and cut them down the middle, I could use them for the sides and save substantial money on lumber costs.
Has anyone ever done this and/or does anyone have any tips for me? I would hate to spend the time on this only to have them end up rotting on me. Thanks!

A: They would more than likely rot. You need treated lumber. http:www.beaumondelandscape.com

**Q: make your own plant hangers?** *(in Accessible Gardening)*

Wrought iron plant hangers are expensive - can anyone help with a make it yourself one?

**Q: Lotus flowers** *(in Accessible Gardening)*

Hello everyone!
I bought lots pot today. The flowers were closed, the leaves big and pretty.
I brought it home, put it outside in my balcony and an hour later, the leaves dropped, the flowers are fully open but the stems are tilting.
I live in Thailand. It's hot now, like 97f at the moment.
Did I do something wrong? Any help will be appreciated! (I've attached before and after pics) Thanks, Adi

A: I visited Thailand a couple of years ago. Amazing Vacation! http://www.beaumondelandscape.com

**Q: Growing trees now To be moved later** *(in Accessible Gardening)*

Hi,
i am planning on doing a self build later in life and want to have some nice trees in the garden. However I won't be building for atleast 6 - 7 years. I have started growing some trees that I like, jacaranda, rhodendron (it's a bush but training as a tree), and wisteria.

my jacaranda is currently 6 month old from seed and is about 10 inch tall. Firstly does anyone think this is slow for a jacaranda?
In have a 1.5m grafted wisteria it's currently tall and thin. Got a lot of work to do on it.

The others are still really small.

Now the the big question is I plan on moving later and would like to take these trees with me to plant in the ground.
i don't know how tall and wide to expect these trees to get in 6 -7 years but what's the best way for me to train them so that they get thick trunks to support themselves and give them the best start in the ground in 6 years?

I was thinking of maybe the bonsai cut and grow technique but just not as a bonsai. As usually the bonsai technique you'd cut it at say 1m down to 30cm but I could let it grow to 3m then cut it down to 1m?

The main issue I'm going to face is getting the trees from my garden currently through my house and into a removal van. So trees would have to fit through a normal size doorway for 6 years but I want them to have a massive root structure which will support them for fast growth when they get out in the ground.

Space at the new property won't be an issue so trees can grow free. Any advice on any training techniques I havnt heard of which would help in this situation would be great :)
Also I will be keeping these trees in extremely large fabric air pots so they can be moved. I currently pot them in a mix of compost, coco coir, perlite and canna a and b fertiliser.

A: Let me know how it goes!

**Q: Louisiana gardeners, where are you?** *(in Southern Gardening)*

Loved Christel's post on Miss. gardeners and saw the great response. I'm in Carencro just north of Lafayette and would love to know where fellow La. gardeners are chiming in from La. on the gardenweb site. Always looking for locals to chat gardening with and possible trading/swapping.
