It too narrow for many standard fireplaces. It is 46.5 inches wide. Would you fill it all in and hang an electric fireplace? Try to find a super narrow built in? (Some are 42 but very expensive...do you tile on the side)? Lost. We are in a time crunch for a decision due to covid supply and hoping to decide today. Please help if you have any ideas about what to do in this space. A: Wallpaper and shelving would work in that space. **Q: Glass doors and Bugs!** *(in Building a Home)* Hello! In the process of designing our new home. One aspect we are certain about is having the back of house full glazing with lift/slide doors to the patio. I am just trying to understand how people manage bugs! Screens really interrupt the view- but if you want to have the back doors open, or even as you transition in/out of the house, don’t you need something to prevent bugs from coming in? Silly question but really value any thoughts or feedback!! A: I understand your point but you need to keep in mind your location and climate. **Q: Two-tier breakfast bar redux** *(in Design Dilemma)* I see on houzz it’s nearly unanimous that the two-tier breakfast bar has gone the way of the dodo. My kitchen, however. Is tiny and the vast majority of the countertop is on the peninsula bar. There is almost no place else to put small appliances or to prep food, and I cook. A single bar would look dramatic for sure but does not seem practical, given the kitchen is adjacent to the living room. Thinking of remodeling and am wondering about making the higher part—the bar part—a waterfall. I’ve seen some pics and that looks to me like a nice update. Thoughts? A: Possibly moving the sink over might be an option if you are remodeling **Q: what to do with this fireplace?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Just removed old faux river rock finally? On Interior Colors For New Build** *(in Paint)* I am trying to have some color choices or at least thoughts on what Id like for a color scheme for my home. Some of you know I am seriously contemplating the plum colored island with very light perimeter cabs, possibly BM Balboa Mist. In the meantime while I await the arrival of cabinet fronts to see if i like the colors, I have been thinking on what I'd like to do for the bedrooms and bathrooms. I have this inspiration picture for my master bedroom. I was also considering Hale Navy as a guest bedroom color, like this (I have white bedroom furniture). My question is, if I do decide to do my island in plum, can I still do my bedrooms and bathrooms with blue-grey tones or do I need that plum color to go in those rooms as well? You will not be able to really see into these bedrooms or bathrooms from my kitchen. I plan on bringing the plum into my living room probably from throw pillows and possibly throw rug, pictures etc. The other question is, and I know I will have to wait till wall board goes up to see lighting, etc, if I can do the BM Hale Navy and blues for my guest bath and other guest bedroom, what colors would you suggest I can do for my main areas since it is open concept? This would include entry/foyer, small hallway to guest bedrooms and guest bath, kitchen, living room, dining area and mudroom. I do not have to do the bedroom in BM Hale Navy but am pretty sure my master will be exactly as shown in the first picture. I would like to have solid choices once the wallboard goes up because I need to choose vanities for bathrooms, countertops for vanities, tile for bathroom floors, wall of tub in guest bath, 6' shower walls, floor etc Would love suggestions, advice, thoughts!!!
