> Our office has collaborated with Gary on many projects, and we love working with him. He is reliable and organized, and has a vision for how to enliven interiors to create beautiful, memorable spaces. He has a great understanding of color, texture, pattern, proportion, and an ability to design spaces that perfectly suit clients' lifestyle. We particularly love his custom hand-crafted rugs.

> I have had Gary work on several projects for me over the years, including a ground up building project of a guest house as well as a city apartment renovation. Gary is a pleasure to work with and always makes sure to tie up any loose ends (which I have found not to be the case when working with other interior design professionals).

> I hired Gary Cruz, principal of Gary Cruz Studio, to provide specific design services and oversee a significant (though not complete) renovation of my 2BR Manhattan apartment. Mr. Cruz is a talented designer who offered some great solutions for further opening up the kitchen/living/dining area, inserting additional storage in tight spaces, and offering invaluable aesthetic suggestions throughout the process. He was meticulous in design the new kitchen, reliable, decisive, and consistently professional (and patient@) in handling vendors and trouble-shooting when problems arose. He also worked seamlessly with the general contractor, whom he has used on other jobs, and the GC's work ethic, quality of workmanship, and attention to detail were exemplary. I could not be happier with the results.

> Gary Cruz offers a unique combination of both architectural and design expertise with highly personal and caring attention. I have used Gary twice, once for a gut renovation and a touch up ten years later. I also have one of his beautiful, original rugs.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Can you tell me where the hardware is from and finish?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Yes it is the 1" knob.

**Q: How many sf is this apartment in total?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How many sf is this apartment in total?

A: @2skinneejs the sf of this apartment is about 650 sf in total.

**Q: couch** *(in Photo Questions)*

where did you get small couch

A: Hi Cindi, I designed it and had it made by Classic Sofa in NYC. The fabric is a cotton twill by Kravet.

**Q: Which granite do you like best with this backsplash?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Far left is Black Pearl.
Second from left is Luna Pearl.
Second from right is Blue Pearl.
Far right is Steel Gray.

Thanks!

A: I think the Black Pearl is your best choice. Nice contrast with the cabinetry and backsplash. Good Luck!

**Q: Need help picking a piece for my dining room wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We currently live in a colonial revival home and I have all but finished my dining room. I don't want it to be cluttered with too much stuff but I also don't want it to seem empty. I'm trying to figure out if I should put a matching credenza in our dining room underneath what I think is a lovely picture or would a console table suffice...

A: I think all you have to do is lower the painting. The center of the painting should be around 5' above the floor.

**Q: Should I stay or should I go? Said the rug** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I just received my rug to go in the dinning room. Table and chairs have not arrived but they will be an espresso color. I really like the look and feel of the rug and feel it goes well with the walls and the hardwood, but not necessarily with the granite in the kitchen. My question is, does it have to? I don't really want to returner rug, but I can if necessary. And please ignore the mess, we are just in moving in. Thanks!

A: I like a rug to extend 3' beyond the edge of a table on all sides. I think you should try to find a rug that's in the same color family as the walls - more warm beige. This rug will compete, not complement your new espresso color dining set. Good Luck!
