A: The shades had been installed about 5 years ago by the previous owner. Nothing wrong with them except they were boring. I stenciled them with eggshell sheen paint, using a damask stencil. **Q: How is mica applied? In paint or?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: The finish on the wall is plaster applied by trowel. The mica is part of the plaster mix. I used three very similar mixtures, working from the darkest to the lightest and the sheen is created by the thin layers of embedded mica. **Q: Paint** *(in Photo Questions)* What's the name and manufacturer of pink and gray paint A: Benjamin Moore, Aura. The pink is \#1326, may flowers; the gray is \#2124-40, bunny gray. I used Aura, worth the slightly extra cost because the pink covered in one coat, and the gray was easy (had to double coat the hand painted curves. Suggest that you use orange core blue tape. It's recommended for decorative work. I use it for all my clients. **Q: Old Desk Transformed** *(in Before & After)* Using Russian Red color in the Paint Couture! line of paint. I transformed this old desk to a bright new piece of furniture. This desk had a plastic laminated top. So first I lightly sanded it before applying 2 coats of a dark gray tinted Zinsser Primer. 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of protective finish, in flat finish. Transformation doesn't mean it has to be glazed, embossed, gilded, foiled, aged or distressed.
