**★★★★★ — HU-303587673, Nov. 2023**

> We couldn’t be happier with how our kitchen came out. John at Showcase Kitchens was phenomenal in his attention to details when we expressed to him our needs and wants for the design of our kitchen. John designed our kitchen that showcased a gorgeous and prominent metallic gold hood that took center stage. Under the hood sits a flush-mount induction cooktop that provides an easy-to-clean cooking surface that is seamless. On each side of the hood, we selected appliances, with the help of Anthony, that complemented the modern space symmetrically. Based on the square footage of the kitchen, we not only had 2 islands but also a separate pantry for storage that had its own sink, second dishwasher, and another rubbish/compost disposal system. The refrigerator and freezer columns are adjacent to the motorized overhead cabinet doors. These cabinets are a very convenient location for our stemware and glassware. Under both islands, we have additional storage cabinets and if that wasn’t enough, we have storage that goes up to our ten feet ceilings. We also chose to have integrated lights under the overhead cabinets and dimmable lights with sensors integrated in the drawers.
> Sean and Ajirth at Showcase were both meticulous with the renovation. Sean came after framing of the kitchen space was completed to take accurate and precise measurements. It was at this first on-site visit by Showcase that he found that our existing ceiling did not come out far enough to align with the cabinets. John and Ajirth worked on revising the design, which worked out better than the preliminary design. We were very thankful that Sean caught this when he was on-site. He was assigned our project manager and was very responsive and always in contact with us as well as the manufacturer. His coordination seemed effortless even with the language barrier and time zone difference. He assured us that every component of the kitchen was boxed, loaded into a container from Italy and made their way on the ship to NJ, inspected by customs before being unloaded onto a truck for the warehouse and then ultimately to our home. He was very helpful with providing the manifest and plans to confirm that we received our entire order without any hiccups. Sean also came back after the kitchen installation bearing additional accessories and saw the areas that needed adjustments by their specialist for this brand of kitchen cabinetry. He coordinated the work and the specialist came to make the final adjustments.
> Ajirth came prior and after the kitchen installation to ensure that a Showcase representative was available throughout the process. He provided vital information to our fabulous GC (also referred by John) crew and his insight on the product line was instrumental to the design and install.
> We can’t say enough about the services that Showcase provided. They are top-notch and work tirelessly for their clients. The manufacturers they work with make exceptionally high quality products. Thank you!

> Louie Viteri designed our kitchen in 2017-2018. He did a fantastic job.
> He measured everything perfectly which is so important. He advised us on the Wolf/Subzero appliances with paneling, 2 huge islands, butler pantry with sink, beautiful sheen on cherry wood,2 corbels and middle keystone on ventahood, soft close drawers, corner rotating lazy susan, etc, etc. He advised two 30 inch wolf instead of one unit and was cheaper and prettier and more functional. Thank you, Louie

> Before starting our kitchen renovation, I had been told numerous times that it will be a nightmare. That couldn't be further from the truth! Working with Michael Rosenberg was such a pleasure. He always made time for me, and made as many changes as I needed without ever making me feel like I was driving him crazy. He even showed up at my house to oversee the project a few times. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Island pendant lighting** *(in Lighting)*

What would look good in this kitchen? I'm looking for 3 pendant lights but there are way too many options out there, it's easy to get overwhelmed.I like a more modern look but would also be ok with pretty glass art. Dont mind the cat wheel, it will be moved. Thank you!

A: What a pretty kitchen. How beautiful having the window inserted into the backsplash. We would suggest lighter, more sculptural pendants that would blend nicely with the open plan space. Here are simple globe lights that work with any number of decor styles. Good luck whatever you pick.

**Q: warm off white kitchen cabinet color** *(in Design Dilemma)*

What is a warm off white kitchen cabinet color that is not too yellow?

A: We agree with Patricia Colwell Consulting. that warming up white often means added yellow. Otherwise you're looking at bringing a gray or brown into the mix that many do not find as appealing. Here is BM Ivory White. It's a creamy off-white color with warm yellow-beige undertones

**Q: Help with backsplash on kitchen wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm planning a kitchen renovation with a new layout. I would like quartzite counters and I thought it would be really cool to continue the same stone as a full backsplash behind the stove. I have an idea of how to do the backsplash on the window wall, but I'm interested in hearing ideas from you guys. Any thoughts on what would look best? FYI I am not using IKEA, but made this rough model to help me visualize. Thanks!

A: Hi. From the looks of your rendering, you seem to favor a cleaner, more contemporary look. Let me share a photo of a more transitional kitchen that used a quartzite for the countertop and backsplash behind the range. You can see that a slab with more grain to it keeps the kitchen sleek, while adding a design detail. What do you think?

**Q: Repairing a chip on the edge of quartz countertop?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A small chip occurred on my quartz countertop when I accidentally knocked it with a mug. It was naturally on the edge of the sink. The chip is very small. About 1/4” wide by a fraction of that in thickness. Kinda flat.

I saved/have the chip. I sent the pix you see here to the company that sold & installed the countertop to ask if they’d repair. They told me yes, for $500. Oy. Is that a reasonable amount for this repair? I assume I shouldn’t attempt to DIY?

A: Best if you can hire a professional to handle the repair. If you're a DIYer, you'll go for an epoxy, that will dry as hard as the Quartz. They have color match epoxy that will help with blending. Clean and fill in the chip. Once dry (in dry weather can take up to 3 days), sand thoroughly with a fine grit sandpaper and polish with a polishing compound. We recommend Weiman Quartz Clean & Shine.

**Q: What kitchen backsplash choices make small space feel larger?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My small kitchen needs a facelift. I want the backsplash to create a larger feel. I’m going to install a light white countertop. Should I use countertop as a backsplash or a pattern of small tiles? Thank you.

A: Hi Jeannie. We often recommend that in smaller kitchens, a more seamless background helps the space feel larger and more open. In this small-to-mid-sized kitchen, the client selected a minimally veined quartzite for both the countertops and backsplash. By continuing the same material across both surfaces, the visual continuity creates an elongated, more expansive look.

**Q: kitchen backsplash** *(in Photo Questions)*

can you share a link of the product used for the kitchen backsplash

A: You have a good eye. They are marble mosaic tiles, purchased from Showcase Tile and Stone in Manhasset, Long Island (formerly Showcase Baths) https://showcasebath.com/ Number 516-869-0300
