> We recently had two bathrooms ripped out to the studs and redesigned. We found the perfect contractor in Kate Blair Farmer and her company Blair Homes, LLC. She came up with innovative ideas, all within our budget, and had a great crew to carry them out. Working with tile, plumbing, electric, and carpentry takes time but it was worth it. Someone was at our home almost everyday till the job was done. And Kate came by almost every day and was always available by text or phone. The bathrooms are beautiful and she also helped set up the master bedroom to compliment the new master bath. I highly recommend her company to anyone having a big or even a small project for their home.

> My husband and I hired Blair Homes to remodel our very out dated kitchen/dining area. We had a general idea of what we wanted our finished project to look like. Kate listened to our ideas and thoughts and guided us through many decisions based on her expertise and information she had gathered during our many conversations. The transformation of the kitchen/dining area is mind boggling! Thanks to Blair Homes, LLC for making our vision a reality!

> I wanted a dependable contractor/designer or architect to help me modify my roof line on an 80's rancher and extend my front porch before doing a new roof. Blair Homes completed the project on time and transformed the outside of my house dramatically, in a timely manner. I will definitely use them for future projects and recommend them to others. My new roof with architectural shingles is complimented by an extended front porch that transformed the appearance of my home for a modest price.

> We renovated a 150-year-old farmhouse including a complete kitchen renovation from a new floor to ceiling. From selecting materials to layout, color, and lighting, Blair Homes did an excellent job at every step of the way and surpassed our expectations while staying in budget and, perhaps most importantly, on our timeline. I highly recommend Kate Farmer and Blair Homes to create a space you will love and cherish for years to come.

> Our home was 53 years old and had become tired and dated and it needed expanding and renovating to adapt to the modern lifestyle of our family. Much like a cherished piece of family silver it had lost its luster and was tarnished and worn. It needed to be rejuvenated to its original shine.
> Thanks to Kate, Brenda and the great team at Blair Homes,LLC our home has regained new life and a new modern shine that our family will enjoy for many years to come. With a complete renovation from top to bottom and a wonderful new addition we now have a totally new home We are so happy that we chose Blair Homes LLC for our project. The results are awesome!!!

> I would highly recommend Blair Homes! Kate Farmer and the team from Blair Homes worked on a complete kitchen remodel for me. My entire kitchen was gutted! Kate Farmer was a pleasure to work with. Very prompt and courteous and accommodating to changes in scope. The contractors were great and I felt very secure leaving them in my home while away. Kate ensured that every detail was done to my satisfaction. The overall result far exceeded my expectations! Great Job!!

> Words cannot express how much we love our new renovations. Blair Homes LLC made our dreams a reality. We had been saving for years and dreaming of completely redoing our 1980’s home, longing for the day to get rid of dark paneling, brown carpet, wallpaper and dark wood cabinets. We knew we wanted a brighter open kitchen plan and hard wood flooring though out and a new renovated bathroom as well. Kate was our dream maker, she stepped in with her design experience and made our dreams come to life, from gutting the complete kitchen and bath to the beautiful home we are enjoying today. From day one we were happy with our decision of trusting Blair Homes to take on our project. We are living in a brand new home without ever moving. Kate has opened a new venue for couples that have raised their children and reached the age of being able to renovate but still be on a budget. She was open to our ideas and brought so many of her own to the design experience, we can’t thank her enough for making our dream home come alive.

> Our family was so fortunate to have Kate's expertise and talent in transforming our daughter's playroom into a beautiful bedroom. The new space is exactly what any little girl would want- warm, welcoming, and inviting. The details are so unique- from the striped walls to all of the decor that Kate hand-picked. This room is without a doubt the best decorated room in our home, and the whole family is drawn to it. From a professional standpoint, Kate was wonderful to work with. Having never consulted a decorator, I did not know what to expect, but was constantly surprised by her knowledge and "out of the box" ideas. Also, we had a major change half-way through the project when we found out we were expecting another baby. We then changed the design to accommodate two children in the bedroom! She was flexible and took it all in stride. I offer my very highest recommendation of Blair Homes- your family will be amazed by the results!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Island color** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you mind sharing what kind of paint/stain is on the island, please? Thank you!

A: It is a Decora Cabinetry stain that has been discontinued. Decora Cabinetry will do any Sherwin Williams color now, so we could get close. If you live in our area, we would be happy to help you with cabinets.

**Q: Island** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you please tell me what the granite is on the island? Thank you!

A: I just saw this question. It is Colonial Cream Granite.

**Q: Fireplace help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

So we just bought a new house and my husband does not like this fireplace. He feels it is way too bulky for the smaller living room and not a fan of the red brick. We thought we might want to paint it gray but don't think that will work with our beige tan living room walls. I considered white washing or painting it a beige a little darker than the walls. The mantel is limestone and wasn't sealed so I didn't plan on painting it just the brick. Our main goal is to make the fireplace look less heavy and more modern. Any advice appreciated!!!

A: An easy way to fix would be to apply tile over the brick. Something like a simple subway tile in white would clean up the look and stream line it a bit. I might would use something a little bigger on the hearth than a subway, but keep it in the same family. Plenty of flooring tiles would work on the hearth. It is easy to do and can really change the look of a fireplace. Do use a grey grout if you can... You don't want to see marks in white grout.

**Q: What is the size of these pendants. Are they the small or large** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: khaynie2003, I just saw this post. Sorry. They are the small pendants.

**Q: What should I do with the wood paneling?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm having trouble deciding whether to paint my wood paneled walls or remove them. The wood paneling on the walls go in different directions. If you look in the first picture, there's wood paneling on the left side of the wall going horizontal and then it goes diagonal on the right. Same thing for my bedroom, it's horizontal on top and then vertical on bottom.

However, if I do paint, I will be going for a swiss coffee paint. Also, I will be changing flooring to walnut engineered wood.

Thanks in advance for your help everybody!

A: I would white wash it. You will be surprised at how it turns out. We did a room in our house that was pine. We actually painted it a Malted Milk by Valspar and the trim white. It is by far our favorite room in the house!
