**Q: Blanket!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, where did you get the blanket?

A: The blanket is an antique Hudson Bay Point, here is a little history from a book written by Harold Tichenor about the blanket."With its proud stripes and distinctive black markings, the Hudson's Bay point blanket is a Canadian icon. In 1779, HBC commissioned the textile mill of Thomas Empson of Witney, Oxfordshire, to produce 'pointed' blankets. During the 1800s, their warmth and durability made them a favourite of the Native peoples, traders, and pioneers. Today, these blankets are still essential gear. They have accompanied explorers to the top of Everest and to the heart of Antarctica and have been used for everything from sled and boat sails to panning for gold.'"

**Q: Mount** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is the deer mount a cart stone product? If so where was it purchased from, I am wanting something similar for a Porch?

A: Ms. Wolfe, 
This particular deer wall mount is made from a cast iron, I found it at a antique shop in East Texas, Since then, I have seen a possible reproductions, as they are quite similar in size, patina, and overall detail. However made from a much lighter yet sturdy cast metal possibly alluminum. I wish I had exact and more information at this time, If/ when I can think of where I've seen them I will let you know, these things always come to me when I least expect them. **Q: Support beams** *(in Photo Questions)*

Are the support beams Steel I beams?

A: The four main horizontal beams are indeed steel I beams. They are quite heavy as I am sure you can imagine, but worth the efforts. They combined with the other steel materials conveys a sturdy yet lofty space. An end result that always looks like a sound investment, certainly one that will surely be around for a very long time to come. **Q: Wallpaper** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I purchase this wallpaper?

A: Ms. Douglas, 
The walpaper is a grasscloth that was found in stock at a local wall covering store. However, as most good things it is no longer carried. Grasscloth made a big comeback, which of course drove up the prices and ease of purchase. This was a great one, the color was amazing. The images have never quite done it justice, it has a lot more depth of colors and subtle variations. We have tried to find a similar product, and have had the best luck through Ralph Lauren, and a line of handmade papers, whose name I cannot think of at the moment. If you are still interested, I'd be happy to get you the information and assist further however we can. **Q: Walls in this kitchen** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you please tell, what color is that paint? The name.

A: Ms. Steen, 
This is one of those unfortunate instances where we find answers to be quite complicated, and / or are lacking information. However all questions deserve answers so we will do our best. These walls were hand finished by using a plaster that was applied and manipulated with a cactus ear thats texture and natural juices creates a reaction that yields a subtle yet complex variated finish. The finish is also nearly as smooth as a silk, We often call it the silken cucina. The images do not do the finish justice, in fact you are the first to have had an eye that has picked up on the its significance. Great job!  Short of hunting down the artisans in Puebla, Mexico, the nearest effect we have found to be similar is a Venetian plaster that is applied with good quality smooth metal trowels. The trowels are used once again by rubbing the metal trowel on the dry plaster to achieve a desired sheen and that silken texture. Finally the plaster is coated with a bees wax product, that is most commonly used to care for some antique furniture or pieces that call for such care. **Q: Floors** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of flooring is this?

A: These are handmade clay tiles from Mexico, some are antiques and others were made in places that still employ the same means of production. They dry in the sun, and often have the footprints of dogs or other wandering critters.They are great fun to survey and make conversation. I have found that a modern saltio tile is made in a similar color, rather than the traditional terra cotta color. These floors are not sealed, but are instead coated with a light wax that yeilds a smooth matte finish that patinas with time.We appreciate and thank you for the question, if you have any further, please never hesitate to ask, as well as make comments or write any reviews.
