LINEOFFICE Architecture is an award-winning full-service architecture studio committed to developing innovative design solutions. Our work is characterized by an attention to detail and refinement of material assembly.

We approach each project as an opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with our clients. Early client meetings are centered around open-ended conversation. We work to help our clients outline practical goals and objectives as well as sometimes less tangible, but no less important, dreams and desires. Throughout the design phase we produce extensive two-dimensional drawing and advanced three-dimensional models and renderings. These tools and various other presentation techniques allow us to clearly describe and illustrate the design to our clients. Our goal is to continuously refine the project as its parameters become more focused and better understood. The collaborative approach extends to our work during construction. We establish a close relationship with builders in order to maintain the design integrity of the project and the successful implementation of every element and detail. To support the work and adapt to the varied programmatic requirements of each project and project type the office pulls from a large network of consultants in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. This network of experience and our focused attention help maintain the construction schedule and budget throughout the fluid construction process.

Ross Hummel, as Principal Architect, maintains involvement with each client, builder and consultant on every project at all stages of the design and construction process.

> If you get an opportunity to work with Ross Hummel, grab it. Ross recently remodeled my dated suburban house into a contemporary light filled home. He can understand your wants/wishes and elevate your ideas into something special. Where I saw problems, Ross saw possibilities and creative solutions. He will suggest different ways of looking at the space and alternative materials. Ross has excellent taste, superb spatial understanding, solves problems and listens well.

**★★★★★ — Creative Spaces, Inc., April 2017**

> Ross was the architect and we were the General Contractor on this gut and remodel job. It was very satisfying to work with the client and Ross on this project.
> Ross was fair and discerning with an incredible eye for excellence and detail.
> His office was responsive and did beautiful work.
> He made a team approach, which we favor, work very well indeed!

**★★★★★ — Heather Cox, April 2017**

> We worked with Ross at LINEOFFICE to renovate and remodel our house. I can't say enough about how great he was to work with and how happy we are with the results. Our house was falling down when we bought it, so it was a complete gut job, but the whole process went very smoothly, from getting permits, to designing, through construction. Ross had great ideas on how to tweak the design of the house to make it more modern and flow better while working within the building envelop (which we wanted). He had great design ideas that took advantage of the existing structure (i.e. vaulting the ceiling in the kitchen) as well as having an attention to detail that my husband and I really appreciated. He not only has a great sense of spaces, he appreciates and cares about the finishes. Ross was open to our ideas and delicate in his response if he didn't think they would work. I know our contractor (and sub contractors) liked working with him (who said Ross was good at figuring out solutions to any problems that came up during construction.) Both my husband and I highly recommend Ross and Lineoffice Architecture and have already recommended him to friends!

**★★★★★ — Arlen Lee, Dec. 2016**

> Ross is a highly professional architect that we have had the pleasure of working with on a few projects to date. He has a super clean and modern/contemporary aesthetic and consistently strives to not only do things the right way but to communicate with to all parties involved, including homeowners, contractors, neighbors, engineers, etc.
> I would wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone looking to complete a clean, high quality, aesthetically pleasing remodel. He will go to great lengths to ensure that his work and the work of the team is of the highest degree.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Concrete Pavers** *(in Photo Questions)*

Beautiful!
What is the heat resistance of these pavers? Who is the manufacturer?

A: Thank you for the kind words. Those are actually poured in place concrete slabs not pavers. They were installed by a local concrete contractor.

**Q: Wow, this loft is beautiful!** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love the simplicity in this project. One of my favorite projects I’ve see here. Do you mind telling me the wall color? Thanks

A: Thank you mark - there are three paint colors in the space - all Benjamin Moore 'Affinity Series': AF-25 'Paper Mache', AF-685 'Thunder', and AF-55 'Sonnet'.

**Q: Loft** *(in Photo Questions)*

We love this loft design. The chairs and pendant light are so amazing. Great job.

A: Thank you so much for the feedback - very much appreciated!

**Q: Letters** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi there, this is a very different home than usual! I'm just curious, what are the letters on the wall saying - I think it starts with, "my job is to acclimatize you to the 90's"...?

A: Hello and sorry for the delayed response - the letters on the wall are part of the owner's art collection.

**Q: Flooring** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please supply details on the flooring? Thank you.

A: The flooring is 2-3/4" wide, plain sawn, T&G red oak (random lengths) with a custom color stain and low-sheen finish from Bona.

**Q: Can you tell me the name of the tile in the shower** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The manufacturer is Caesar Cermiche, the tile line is 'More' and the color is 'Iridium'
