Our project was a custom master bath/closest remodel. We wanted it done right and tried WB based on reviews. Their initial guesstimate seemed very high(based on site visit and long discussion about scope), but we wanted it done right. We paid $3,000 for preconstruction services. At this time, I specifically stated that I would require estimate detail. The process started great...nice ideas and nice to work with. A plan was agreed upon (that was close to initial concept) and then they updated the estimate. It was 60% higher than the initial estimate!! They could not explain well how or why, and would not/could not provide the detail I requested. I understand maybe up to a 25% increase, but not 60%. At this point we lost all confidence, and communication from WB started to break down. In fact, it was their lack of concern and effort to get the scope/budget back in line, and comments that they had never done some of what we were asking for that really bothered us. In the end, a partial loss of our deposit. We do have a plan out of this effort. If you choose to work with them, I would suggest putting your requests in writing (detailed estimate breakdown in my case), and/or not paying or signing anything until you agree on scope and price. The backsplash tile in this kitchen is Emser Trav Ancient Tumbled tile in Silver. We used the mosaic tiles at the bottom, the 3'x6" tiles in a subway pattern around the kitchen, and the same tile in a herringbone pattern over the cooktop with a mini cigaro border. There is also a darker border tile between the 3x6 tiles and the mosaic tiles, which is Questech Dorset Cast Metal 1"x12" classic liner tile in wrought iron.
